When will HDD surpass MiniDV?

In terms of video/picture quality and minimum bump sensitivity, I hear MiniDV is the way to go right now, but apparently HDD will be soon to surpass in the world of consumer camcorders, but when?

Recular HDD's will never be better, because of ovbious reasons. When they put solid state drives in cameras, that is when they will be better. Just wait until solid state drives become cheaper, and can hold a lot.

I'd like to bump this, i'm really looking into HDD camcorders because it just seems so easy for everything to be saved to the camera and not have to carry numerous tapes (and the $ for them) but why is miniDV so amazing?

If youre talking about SSDs, then they already exist.

And you can buy flash drives (like usb ones) that go up to like 64GB

Film is still king as far as image quality and storage. The only flaw is the fact that it costs an arm and a leg just to pay for it.

Technically, it costs an entire body since a "healthy" cadaver averages at around $20,000, which is typically a starting price for film costs with bigger companies.
