Is it just me or does it seem like every tom dick and harry own a pair of twins this year?

I remember when i got my first pair of twins not last season but the season before there wasnt to many with twins...but this season there is a definate increase in twin twip usage...i see all these telemarkers and old people even using them that have no idea what the second tip is for..

is it just me or does anyone else notice there are tons of twin action this season?

i was the only one with twins at the hill here and the only one who actually does shit with them,now this year,like 10 people have them,and none of them even try landing or takin off switch,and pisses me off cuz most of them have brand new 2003 models and theyre better than mine,

 
people dont even realize what the second tip is for...some guy in the line up asked me if my skis were backwards..i laughed.

There are definitly alot more at my home hill, but it's not all bad here alot of people kill it tho there are quite a few yuppies.

yeah, I had the origianl 1080's, and it was only me and a few friends that had twins on the entire mountain. Now it seems there are so many people that have them. I guess its not bad, but it felt cool to be one of the first people on them

 
At my hill, most of the people with twins are good, most of them are powder junkies on pocket rockets. Then there's a LINE amateur rider on the new 1260s and MoShips (mostly 12's) and a couple other people that rip. Not too many posers except for a chick on last year's 1260s who had a streamlined racer helmet but no goggles and she was plowing down the green runs.

yeah, a lot of new people may be bustin out the twins this year, but it is the ones who had them from the start that are truly rippin it up. it all boils down to one thing, if you throw down huge and use em right, it doesn't matter how long you have been jibbin as long as you are true to the progression of the sport and the style. word.

yeah i think everbody's gonna have twins in a few years. why wouldn't you want them? they look sweet and you can ski in another direction. that's when i'll go back to skinny 220cm skis and be the coolest.

More People buying twins means more money for the industry. More money for the industry means only better things, more R&D for new skis, companies have more money and can sponsor more competitions & skiers, more money can be pumped into ski movies.

This is the way growing sports work, they GROW.

look at snowboardng dude, when they first came out all you could get were the ones with one tip, now they are ALL twin tipped. It's where the sport is going.

I think alot of the telemarkers have them because the back tip gives you more manueverability in chutes and tight spots, I noticed that quite a bit

not all snowboards have two tips, look at the racing boards, so i doubt that all skis will end up being twins, it just depends if you're into park skiing or carving, but we may end up seeing alot of skis like this years darkside

 
yea if you hate twins sooo much why dont you get not twin tip skis, don't be such a hypocrite, first saying that you got twintips because you wanted to be cool but now you hate them more than anything else in the world. haha.

I was really surprised to see how many ppl had twin tips this year. I for one don't give a crap if an 80 year old woman is on Public Enemys, as long as she's pouring money into the industry I'm happy. The more the twin tip market grows, the more its possible for things like armada to happen.

More ppl on twins = more money = better industry.

sounded like he just wanted to recap on what skiing used to be like a few years ago and that 'special' feeling you got from being one of the only people on the mountain with twin tips.

It sucks in that you won't get that feeling again unless you go to some remote part,

But appreciate the good things - more money for the sport bigger things.

its a good thing that more people have twins. even if they can't throw down. i mean look at snowboarders, not all off them can throw down, but just cuz they cant throw down doesnt mean they have to trade in their board for a race board. if your knockin twins, then your not true to the sport. you shouldnt be mad that the sport is getting bigger, or should be fucking happy

alot more twins out this year, i agree. But its cool cause i see lots of people trying new stuff, having fun. I met a lot of new ridiers that seem to have some skill and more peopel mean more people pushing at you. i see lots of twin tip kids doing small 180's and thats it but you got to start some where.

yeah, maximumsushi and skibum (i think) have got it right, the more twins there are, as weird as it might be to see them all out there, the more the industry is going to progress. like, im not on twins, but thats just a matter of what im comfortable with... and a lot (not all) of these people that all the sudden have twins are trying to make themselves feel more confident in their ability.

there are a hell of a lot more twin tips, but hey, i dont even have a pair yet, i dont have the money, so im just doin shit on my old skis, nothing wrong with that, and everybodys gotta learn somewhere, why not learn on a nice pair of skis?

 
its a sign that newschool skiing is gaining popularity - its a good thing so don't worry about who skiing twins. Its not like racers get all huffy and puffy about people riding around with race bindings or boots. If we want to get our sport noticed we should be encouraging people to ride twins instead of normal skis
