When to buy boots

So basically my boots busted on me the other day. I have a good number of days still left to ski, I'd say about 2-4 more night sessions, and 4 full days.

My choices are:

-Buy boots now

-'Demo/Rent' 'high performance' boots from the demo shop at my mtn, for $10 per session. Reasonable price IMO..

Should I just go with the demoing, and purchase boots in the summer when it'll be cheaper I'd assume, or should I go buy some now? Also, how much should I expect to pay for say SPKs, or other freestyle boots?

Yeah I'm going to local shop tommorow my mom got her boots there and they had a buncha articles on the walls from newspapers claiming they had the best fitters.

Would it be wrong to ask to get fitted now saying I'll comeback to buy them in a week, and until then most likely seek a better deal online?

Also, would I be better off trying on a freestyle boot, seeing which fits me best, getting that, or straight just asking to 'be fitted?'

Should I ask to be fitted with a freestyle boot? I don't even know what to ask..

uhhh, you should specify you want a freestyle boot though so you dont end up in a 130flex race boot trying to huck. peace

Most good shops will understand if you don't have the coin to buy boots there. Tell them right off the bat that you will probably be buying them online, and offer to give them some money to get your boots fitted when your boots show up ( ie cooking the liners, tweaking canting, a custom insole, etc), as well as trying the boots on. If they don't like it, then at least you know and you don't have to sneak around and ruin whatever reputation you have with the shop.

good call. but if you arnt willing to pay for the boots, dont be a jerk and go about it when its real busy. go when its dead, and someone will be more than willing to kill some time talkin kicks with ya.

as for boots, dont be fooled. SPKs, rampages, they are all just boots. they have some little features here and there, but overall, there isnt anything special about them that you cant set any other boot up to do. go for fit, just make it clear that you are freeskiing. obviously you will prolly want to try on the basics like foil, spk, rampage, but dont forget about other boots. once you get a boot that fits right, theres alot you can do to make it "freestyle specific", specially if you are not affraid to get in there with some tools and arnt scared to drill out some rivits.

yea pretty much every boot company makes a freeride/park boot these days so just give 'em all a try. tell them how much the boots are runnin online and that you gotta save as much money as you can, and if they cant match the price for you or get close then oh well, but they might try to drop the price a little, and if its like 30 bucks more to get them in the shop then just get them there (and remember shipping on boots aint all that cheap, unless you find a site that was free shipping which I guess a fair amount do)

I went to a local shop today, spent about 25mins there. Tried on a bunch of boots, it was a toss up between these FS Langes and the Rampages, and the Rampages seemed to fit my flex preference more.

It's going to be ~320 but that includes the fitting/custom sole or whatever, the one you get heated to you, believe they go for 100 w/o purchase. They come free with a $500+ boot but they said they'll help me out. I think I'm just gonna go with this, I need the boot asap since mine busted, and $320 is just $100 over online offers if I'm lucky, plus I get fitted and such. Think this is fine?

Also, my bindings, p12s are mounted for a 304mm, will they sit a 225mm?
