When skiers include shots of falling off rails early in their edits...

I kinda get irked when I see it, like very irked. Like, damn it that didn't really count. Try that trick again to get a satisfying clip pls. I'm not gonna call anyone out in the OP, but post any fun examples here.

those clips are fun as hell. shows how hard these guys are trying and keeps it in perspective that every shot has blood sweat and tears put into it. Sometimes they do put the successful shot in there and it’s awesome, but if they don’t go for it again there’s no shame in making a business decision for your health

It depends on the trick and how far off it is . Like if you hit a nasty 2 on and you nonchalantly fall off early like you’re too bored to hold the slide then it’s not half bad but if you’re doing swaps and just spinning haphazardly landing wherever then it doesn’t count.

Early-off with an Ollie or Nollie out is acceptable if and only if the skis clear the entire rail and the boots are above the rail at the end

LOL you've got to be fucking kidding me. No one falls off a rail early because they're fucking bored. They fall off early because they suck at sliding rails.

Skierman's got a point. The only reason to come off early is to avoid hitting an obstacle, but there's been plenty of clips of people hitting the object regardless. If you can't handle that pain, that's fine but it won't make for as good of a clip just saying

First thumbs up I’ve ever given skierman lol.

“Yeah I did a dope 2 on but after that I was quite underwhelmed so I just said fuck it and ruined the shot by coming off early. That way I’m not the only one not entertained by my skiing but also the viewer.” -Nobody

people doing front 2s and their face + both hands plant the ground

Imma be honest my front 2s used to be gross like id only go about 180 and I'd still land on my noses, I got them good now but I understand why people do it

But If you’re the editor of the video then you need to take a lesson or two because that shit will fucking ruin any chances of it being a half decent edit or half legit clip. Go get the shot better or don’t do it at all. Same with shuffled tricks. It does not fucking count, leave it in your camera roll. And if you can’t get the shot cleaner, then get better or try something else.

Stairs not being shoveled, no hitting rails on cheese grater stairs, wearing helmets, and building lips onto shit makes me hate urban. Get real and just hit that shit.

Bro do you even know how to ski

This is what I like about donkey dicks, especially on challenge rails. Sure you made it theough the thing and maybe even to the actual end, but you were barely on the rail and coming off for sure. Put a donkey at the end and it makes it blatantly obvious if you're center and locked in.

Also as frustrating as it might be to come off a touch early multiple times, getting that one centered and pop off the end like a boss is worth the battle

“In my personal opinion, I believe that skiers do not fall off because they are bored. But instead, because their rail skills are not yet developed to a level where they can slide said rail”

Depends on the vibe of the edit. If it's just a goofy or more fun edit I don't mind a ton.

I definitely still notice.

And I'm just as guilty as the next for doing that one too.

But when it's in a movie or something more serious it always bothers me and ruins the shot for sure.

What is better for an edit then considering these are all on the exact same features:

three separate clips of laced tricks or a line connecting the same tricks but the tricks are looser or have an early off

ok so when i posted this i read it wrong and was thinking more sam zahner slam in real ski than coming off the rail early ?

3 clean forsure. While it’s more impressive if you can stomp shit in a line I’d rather watch clean tricks that weren’t all done in the same line than mediocre landed ones that were all in 1 go

early off = doesn't count, line is only cooler if you actually land the tricks.

speaking of haphazardly, I'm gonna haphazardly pass you up in karma to be ranked number 9 all time

imagine trying to get higher karma ranking when you could be cool instead

I hate seeing clips of people sliding those neverending rails and only sliding 3 feet before jumping off. Its stupid. Im talking about those reeeaaaally long rails where obviously theyre not going to slide the whole thing and theyre trying to jump off early to drop into a tranny or something, but come on dude seriously. If youre going to slide the rail at all, give it at least like 15 feet. Otherwise I dont want to see it. Youre wasting my time
