WHEN IS THE NEW MAC OS X LEOPARD COMING OUT!?

it wont be out until late spring, and you dont need an intel mac to run it, im sure a g4 can handle it.

i heard that at the end of feb they are introducing new macs, liek slightly upgraded versions, not all new, and then they do thier whole show on leopard and say it will be available in another month or 2, and and new mac you buy that day or after gets a free version of leopard once it is distributed.

traditionally apple have released their new OS' sometime in the spring, usually somewhere between mid march and mid april

They haven't said the exact release date yet but I've heard that it will likely be late spring, maybe April or May.

there's alot of screenshots on macrumors.com if you're trying to see how it looks. i ran a copy of it in the summer when it was first being seeded to developers and it was pretty sick of what worked properly, granted that was a very early developer issue release so there were bugs here and there, but all in all its going to be fucking sick in my opinion

Is there going to be a signifigant difference? Will it be worth replacing Mac OSX 10.4 or w/e? And if you are using two different Macs, will it still be super compatible?

it's usually always worth upgrading, and if you're a student you can get the upgrade for $69 (traditionally, who knows if they'll raise or lower the price with this one) , and yes, as always if you're using 2 different macs they should be very compatible, even moreso if you're using .mac

yes jeff its going to be a huge improvement. there are gonna be a bunch of new core apps that will make working easier. if you look on apples website they list them all.

you're probably thinking of the ship date for iTv and the new airport extreme base station, but ive heard the ship date for iTv has been pushed back a week.

check out the news i found on macrumors.com about Leopard:

"ThinkSecret reports that Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard) development is "wrapping up faster than many at Apple even anticipated" and that the newest version of Mac OS X could be expected as soon as the end of March.

The rumor site also expects that Apple will launch the new versions of iLife '07 and iWork '07 alongside Leopard. They claim that both iLife and iWork were delayed due to the addition of some Leopard-specific features to the productivity suites.

Apple last stated that Leopard would still ship in spring and implied that the iLife suite would be updated soon."

alright so say i get lepord for a mac thats running 10.3 w/e, what happens to the programs if you update to leopard? do you lose them? does mac update fix it? Thanks ahead of time

if you update to leopard, it just brings all of your apps and any of the 'behind the scenes' architecture of the OS up to speed. you don't lose any apps, they're only improved, and in most cases run faster than smoother than they did before. software update makes minor improvements and bug fixes in apps and the os, while buying a new OS will make major updates to your apps, add new apps and features, and obviously also enhances the overall performance of your apple

cool yea i'm not to informed on this kinda stuff, probably knew that just wanted to check with people that would know better! Thanks guys!

The last 3 or 4 releases of Mac OS X have been on March 26th during their big Apple conference. Leopard developer seeds are out, but you really don't want to run those b/c they're buggy and typically require a clean install.

I read that it might be released at WWDC in June, but I have a feeling it will be shipping end of March like normal.

definitely true! i ran one of the first seeds and as cool as it was to see the new stuff, it was super buggy and basically was a waste of time to try out. eventually went back to 10.4 and waited like the rest of em ha.

dude, I can't wait for Time Machine. I am an idiot who doesnt know how to back up files, and when I tried to back up my harddrive, I accidentally erased everything, including all my 05/06 footage and my entire movie project that took me 7 months to make.

but whatevv yooo

time machine is gonna be sweet also. spaces isnt anything special, its basicly the same as virtue desktops
