When is it too late for coffee?

This has become a hot topic with my friends. I always grab/make a cup after skiing around like 5 to prepare for the night

If I'm going out for the night, whether it be after work, or after doing something physically taxing, I love hitting the cup of coffee. I have a Saeco coffee maker, worth more than most of my belongings but god damn is it nice to get that fresh ground cup at the push of a button. I will say troubleshooting that thing and cleaning it is a pain in the ass though.

The cleaning grind is always worth it though. I treat my coffee machine better than my skis

Never is too late. Depends how much caffeine affects you. I could drink a cup and sleep two hours later if I needed to. In general though not within 5-6 hours of sleep

Pretty much this. I usually drink tea in the evening though, strong black tea though never green nor herbal.

I know others who can't drink coffee after lunchtime or 2:00 because they won't get to sleep well.

Apparently it’s bad for you to drink coffee past 1 in the afternoon.

But if I’m going out drinking and I need an energy boost I’ll make a cup with dinner. But even after a night out drinking I still find it hard to fall asleep sometimes

Try to stop drinking it by mid-late afternoons now. I used to drink it religiously at any hour of the day or night which was bad. Working 3pm to 11pm sucked and you're still a little wired when you get home by like 12 or 1am so getting to sleep usually sucked

Not a coffee drinker myself, I have tried but it just doesnt taste good to me no matter how much stuff I add to it to try and make it better. I just stick with water. Maybe an energy drink if I need to pull an all nighter.

What’s the energy drink of choice in that scenario? I can only do redbull, smaller portion and it doesn’t taste as syrupy

Sugar free Red Bull is my choice but not always available so Monster or Rockstar are the 2nd choices.

Man I can't believe coffee effects other people so much. I could drink a coffee or a monster or a red bull or basically anything literally right before bed and not have an issue falling asleep. I guess my body just rejects it or something.

This for me as well.

I only have coffee or an energy drink (seems to be less effective) when I'm doing a long drive, going all night, or am about to work and haven't had enough sleep. I think coffee has become a bit of a clutch/necessity for others.

On another note, do any of you think coffee/caffeine is a drug? I'd say it is based off of definition

Given my addiction, I’d have to say it is

I don't usually drink coffee but when i do I like it black

The best way to do it. I'll enjoy a cappuccino or some other fancy drink from time but in general, nothing beats black coffee. Cream and sugar gang can fuck off

Im not into the paleo thing but I tried putting butter in my black coffee a while back and its bomb. That is the only way I drink it now and something about the fat in the butter regulates how you absorb the caffeine so I dont get jittery.

I do Keurigs first thing in the morning. Cheap and easy. Add a little heavy whipping cream to any Kpod and you are in business. I have 2-3 cups of coffee before lunch at work but typically don’t have caffeine in the afternoon unless I am feeling like a total piece of shit and need something to finish my work day in which I will either do a monster rehab or black tea. I’ll do a sugar free Red Bull anytime if my wife is buying, I am the dirt bag and she is the one with champagne tastes.

7pm cutoff for sure. But even that's a bit late. I like 3 cups a day. 1 in the morning, 1 afternoon boost, and a post-work pick me up so I don't just sit on the couch all evening just to go to work the next day not having done anything.

4pm at the latest for me. That also lines up with about four cups a day which is my max before starting feel weird and strung out. I've tried switching to black tea a few times and it's cool but don't think I'll ever quit coffee because it impacts me more positively than not.
