When Is It Too Cold To Go Skiing?

Call me a poon/puuze or whatever, but Im thinking about not going riding today as its -5 real, -30 windchill with 20mph winds today at the hill; when does the cold and wind just make it not fun to ride for you guys?/

Ive skiied in -10 before with like a -20 windchill. If you had any exsposed skin, it immediatly started to get frost bite and just hurt so bad. Unless the conditions are the most epic youve ever skiied, dont do it if your not having fun.

-36 at keystone.... without windchill.. fuckin hands went nump and goggles froze to my head. had to go inside and sit with my hands by my ass for bout an hour while they came back to life.. and i tell you that shit fuckin hurts like no other.!

I dealt with a -69 windchill at Stowe back in the day. Got frosbite with -40 though(tremblant).

If you live on the east coast, skiing just aint worth it when its that cold. Go inside and grab yourself a magic hat.

yep. i usually wont go below 5 degrees F. its just not fun when you cant move because you're so cold and everything starts to hurt.

Yea i ski in whatever im not goin to let the weather dictate when i go skiing although frigid ass temperatures do suck!!

i skied in -7 at loon thiws year real etmp...dont know what it was with windchill, but i only satyed out for like and hour and 1/2....i got too cold....but unless its like -10 i ussually try and see how long i can last! hehe. but as soon as im not having fun i stop.

back in the day (circa '96 or '97) ~20 below w/ a 70 below windchill in WI. hells yeah, school was cancelled so we went skiing.

the worst i've skied in was about -10 with the windchill. it sucks and when it's that cold u don't even feel like ridding the park.

when the wind is blowin you up the mountain and its like 50 below with wind chill...thats when its too cold

Below minus 20 is too cold. I've raced in minus 23 in a catsuit before. Put duct tape over my nose to stop my breath from freezing.

unless shit starts to freeze off its never to cold for skiing

worst i ever skied was minus 35 lake louise

pretty intense

but also one of the best days i've ever had

blue bird super dry snow

it was exclent

if its really cold on a powder day ill probly go out but if its like 0 or colder i probly wont be skiing park

ive skiied in -13 w/o wind, and like -30 with wind, and i was on the chair lift, and it broke down, had to sit there for half an hour, i was like 10 yrs, and me and my dad had to cuddle to shelter eachother, it was rediculous.

amen to that, i love getting blasted in the face with icey, cold wind, so much that your eyes water, and then freeze. ya us vermonters are hard core

supposed to be -16 tonight w/o wind chill

well in duluth mn danny kass came up it was -50 with windchill i went out just to see him... bad idea it was so could you would hit a small jump and knucle it or over shoot just to much it hurt like a bitch!!!! so i guess the moral is dont go skiing in -50 to meet snowboarders there gay anyway

bundle up and keep your head warm. i haven't had a day too cold to ski yet, but one day this year it was -15 at keystone and i forgot my warm gloves. i wore pipe gloves and thought my hands were gonna fall off.

You just gotta get a good layering system down, without much cotton. Merino is the best stuff for keeping warm.

i can usualy stand cold like -15 -20 but when the wind comes its jsut completly shit and not worth it

hmm, the coldest ive gotten a chance to ski in was about 0 and it wasnt that bad ( i live in downstate NY).

yea it can get pretty cold up on the lift, but if you dress smart with a good facemask i would say you are allset
