What's your thoughts on Faction SKIS?

I'm really considering getting either the Wednesday or 2.0 has anyone ridden them or demoed? I just want to know about the stiffness, durability and all around what you thought of them. Thanks
 
they make cool edits with good skiers. that's all i know about them.

10/10 would recommend to a friend
 
A friend of mine rides the 1.0s from this year, super solid ski and he loves them. PM freddierh if you wanna find out anything in particular from him.
 
Ive been riding on Factions for about 3 season now. I absolutely LOVE them. Some of the best skis Ive ever ridden. The Agent 100s are amazing 10/10 would recommend. They have a solid construction and hard-charging shape. The only problem is on this year's Candide series the cores were balsa and broke super easily. (broke 2 pairs of 3.0s) but they were warranted within a week and next year the core will be poplar so that problem will not occur. Im some-what close with the NA Distributor so i can answer some questions about them.

Sums up my feelings. Seems the high production-value video approach is paying off for them.

Yeah, man. I'm getting the Candide 2.0 next season because I know faction makes killer skis, poplar core is awesome, and the Collective edits make me have to change my underpants after I watch them.

Too bad that there were issues with the durability, because those cores were badass. They performed just as well as the poplar, but so much lighter.

Yea it blows. I snapped a new pair of Agents 4 days after i got them. The balsa core kicked ass though. A heavier ski will make you stronger however.
 
I was impressed with everything I demod from them over the years. 3.zeroes, Royales, and Wednesdays all left good impressions on me. I wish I remembered more specifics of the Wednesday, but it was probably an older model anyway.
 
my buddy has snapped the tails on 2 pairs in the last 1.5 seasons. They were the 1.0s. Other than that, they look pretty good, esp the 3.0. Hopefully they can get the snapping figured out.
 
I've owned a pair of Agent 100s since the beginning of the season. I've been using them as my go-to touring set up, and they're holding up well. I put one coreshot in them from dropping straight onto a rock, and I knew as soon as I did it was a coreshot, it would have happened with skis of pretty much any other brand, so no complaints there.

In short 9/10 (nothings perfect), would buy again, would recommend.

Anyone have good rocker pictures of the current 3.0?

I would really like a lightweight ski with specs like the 3.0, but the balsa core is a big no. And they are expensive as fuck

Qfe, bought the exact same after using his, really impressed with how well they skied, especially given how light they were, of course I can't comment on durability, especially as I've never broken a set of skis, though countless bindings.

It really wasn't. There were some durability issues that definitely needed consideration, but they mostly occurred in the skinnier 1.0 and Agent, I haven't heard a lot of cases about the 3.0 or any about the 4.0. However, the core is not perfect yet. My hope is that Faction will find a way to strengthen it, because it really was a game changing product. The skis performed just as well as the standard construction but weighed so much less. The core is so close to being dialed in, and I hope it eventually will be.

We indeed faced few durability issues with the balsa/fiberlax core. When this core works really well on our freeride and BC skis - 3.0s and 4.0s, the 1.0s had some breakage issues notably for heavier and aggressive, hitting bigger jumps and urban.

This affected only a very small chunk of our 1.0s users, and we obviously replaced the broken pairs.

The 14/15 1.0s is totally revamped and will notably features our poplar/ash core and underfoot carbon reinforcement, making it super strong and durable.

Also, we have a 2-year warranty on every of our skis : if something unusual happens, will replace your pair.

I've owed both 191 3.Zeros and 194 Thirteens, and skied the 188 Alias 100. The 3.zero is a big mountain machine. It gets better when you go faster. It's a pig at slow speeds. The Thirteen is beyond you. If it's not on your radar already, you can't handle it. The Alias would make a good AT ski.

QFE... I skied the 1.0 and 2.0 from next year at a demo, didn't have long on them but they both seemed extremely well made. 1.0s looked to have super thick edges even compared to the 2.0s, which seemed about the same as my K2 Domains (which also have pretty decent sized edges).

The 1.0 is poppy and snappy, the 2.0 is buttery and smooth. I would say the 2.0 is the perfect one ski quiver for the majority of NSers.
 
Been riding the Wednesday for 3 seasons and absolutely love it. Of the skis I've owned in my life (Line, Ninthward, Faction) these are hands down my favorite. Decently stiff with lots of pop, feels extremely stable at high speeds, and at 92mm underfoot it's just wide enough to handle our modest Idaho powder but thin enough to bring into the park on a bad weather day
 
I've been skiing the 2.0 for the past 2 months and it's probably one of my favorite skis I've ever ridden. I originally thought I would mainly be using it for slush and park but with the snow that Colorado's been getting I've been able to ski it in a wide array of conditions, including jib laps around Snowbird and Alta. It is a soft ski and it's symmetrical so it does great in the park but honestly it does a fantastic job all over the mountain too. It has held up well though any straight lines i've thrown at it through chutes or moguls and it surfs powder well too.

10/10 would recommend.
 
Yeah, not only will Faction be changing the core to poplar/ash with carbon reinforcement under foot this season for the candide 1.0s, they have also completely reshaped the ski. Candide 1.0s will now be 120-90-120(fuck yea), and has slight tip and tail rocker with camber under foot(according to some research online and PM's with faction). They're gonna be gnarly.

I have the 13/14 faction candide 1.0's . After 2 months of skiing the edge and running surface started coming off underfoot. This caused me catching an edge way to often when hitting rails or just taking sone carves. Got the ski replaced and hoped on the best.

After 3 months on the new ski same issues started again and last weekend the sidewall riped out. I cannot see an issue for this too happen and not only the skis wood is nomore protected now also the ski just completly broke right infront of the heel piece.

The skis were great fun aslong as the durability alowed it.

I really hope for faction that they fixed these issues with their new skis tho.

i am looking at 2.0s for next year. will they have the popular core or the balsa?
 
Hi,

Next years Candide 1.0s and 2.0s feature the same core as the 2014/15 ones, so poplar/ash with a layer of carbon underfoot.
 
I just bought the 168 Prodigy on steep and cheap for $280. Lots still up if anyone else is interested in that ski. Really excited to try them out, it's one of the only skis I could find in my size in the 90 waist hybrid rocker range that has a chargey sidecut 18m. Everything else I looked at with those specs was 15m or less except the armada al dente.

If that faction rep is still floating around here maybe he could let us know why they sized down the Prodigy keeping the proportions true, but not the Candide lineup. I was really interested in the 1.0 and 3.0 but not when I saw that they didn't keep the smaller sizes proportionally true.
