What's your school like?

How is your school when it comes to being late for class, not doing homework, disturbing class etc? I'll be an exchange student next year, and i have the impression that US schools are way more focused on on the students' behavior then they are here where i live.
 
well at my current school they dont give a shit and will laugh when you fail out, but thats university... im sure you're talking high school, and yes, they took that stuff pretty seriously, teachers got pissed when i didnt do homework and when/if yo udisturb the class or be a jackass you can get sent to the principals office pretty quick and probably get a saturday detention, but im sure it can be wayy different depending on which highschool your attending.
 
In my school it really all depends on the teacher and the mood they are in. But if you screw around too much they give you a DT than if you are still messing around or do something really bad they give you a "Blue Slip" which if you get three they "kindly" ask you to leave.
 
if you talked out of turn, they would take you to a dark closet and... no april fools. My school is ok. if you miss 20% of your classes you have to go to summer school. If your late you are late. There are senior junior privlages for leaving school, early coming in late. My school has a closed campus so thats the only bummer.
 
At my school, dont do your homework and you get a zero (all of our grades are posted online)...last year someone thought it would be fun to shit all over the bathroom (and i mean all over - floor, mirrors, sinks) so there are now cameras on all floors except for the stair wells. there are many gay teachers but i got lucky and didn't get any to bad...
 
It depends sooo much in US schools, it even varies between grades and rankings in my school.

I'm a senior (last year of school) and I can really do whatever. I'm late to a lot of my classes, but only by a max of a minute. Teachers don't really ask me about it because I'm a straight A student. They just assume I was talking to a teacher or doing something productive. If you are respectful and attentive in class, joining in on discussions and debates then teachers will love you and pretty much let things slide that they would normally not let slide for other kids.

Hopefully you get a cool school that doesn' really care. Plus they'll be easier on you since you are a foreign exchange student. So they'll automatically think you are a good student.

 
At mine teaches don't care for the most part. It really only depends on the teacher and the subject. Ap and core teaches usually care more. Also. in mine the attendance sucks. If you have 1 unexcused absence or 3 tardies than you need to pay 3 bucks and stay after school for an hour where you can't talk and the only work you can do is school work.
 
dude moller sounds terrible. thats not how it is at public, like with the blue slips. sucks for u ryan
 
haha most teachers arn't assholes and people barely get blue slips but we have teachers who are dicks and give out DTs for having your shirt untucked and wrong shoes and that gay stuff.................buuuut we do have laptops so I can get on NS whenever i want so eat it ben!
 
haha yah moeller is sweet i just mess around on my laptop all durring school do very lil work but yah we do have some dick teachers but thats like only 3 and the majority couldnt care less.

see ryan and ben this is why cincinnati is so up tight because it is all private schooling except for me and like 10 other schools. at private schools they teach you to focus and toy cant laugh or mess around
 
It isn't that bad like the only thing i've gotten a DT for is the wrong shoes and I was late to many times lol but imma good kid so I dunno haha where do YOU go to school! haha
 
it depends on the teacher. Some are self rightous asshats and some recognize that students arent perfect little robots without any problems in their lives
 
my high school didnt give a shit when i fucked around in class. my music history teacher used to tell us stories about when he smoked weed, it was mad funny. sometimes it depends on the teacher tho, some care when youre late to class, others make you get a late slip and it takes away from your grade. kinda sucks.
 
depends on the teachers you get in the US mostly, some of mine couldnt give two shits if i was late or didnt go or do my work or w/e but others will punish you and such.
 
well, my school is goign to be 100 years old next year. its old as shit and they wont tear it down because its like a national monument. teachers here in the U.S. dont give a shit. if im 10 minutes late they dont say any thing. you can basically do whatever you want in my school just depends on how your schools ruels are and teachers etc.
 
at my school in canada the teachers are super chill. most dont care if your late/out of uniform. in some classes i can get away with just walking out. they want your work done, but some teachers dont even look at homework.
 
They don't care if your late. They don't care if you come to class. They don't care if you don't do your homework. They don't care if you don't do your assignments. They don't even care if you don't do a test or a quiz. But this is university, so yeahh...
 
they dont care if you do your homework at my school, if you do it you get credit, if you dont you dont

3 lates= 1 hour asd
7 lates=1.5 hrs asd
10 lates= iss
 
don't be late.

don't skip class.

my school was big on those two. pretty much went from detention for a few lates to failing the class for more than that.
 
an exchange to Canada would have been better.

I don't really know what the schools in the US are like, but mines really slack about it, but it really depends what teacher you got for the class.

but if your going on an exchange, what would really be the point of skipping class? if you got in a habit of that wouldn't the exchange program just send you home.
