Whats Your Religion?

I'm an abusurdist. It is a happy sort of existentialism.
Google absurdism... you will find info on it.

albert camus "the stranger"guideline to being absurdist, if you havent read it, do. its like 90 pages.

Me? i was raised catholic. At this point, I believe there is a God, but not as the church preaches him. For instance, my priests preach that if you miss one mass or wear flip flops to church your going to hell and if you sin, you need confession immediately. Im not a fan of that shit. I dont think church is neessary to be on good terms with god and confession is you telling a priest what you did wrong. What you have done wrong in life is between you and God and if you are sorry for you actions, he will forgive you. I believe being a good person, who is reasonaly nice to all, is more important than being a non-sexing, non-smoking, non-drinking, pure person.
sparknotes: I a way-farer catholic and I fancy myself to have adopted some rasta principles along the way.

i am taking philosophy of religion this term and i started off the term as an agnostic and i think it has pushed me into being an athiest, although i still feel that if someone gave me a VERY strong proof or something then i migt believe in god.

there are so very very strong arguments for the existence of god, and many against.

i would say i am a phsyicalist and an evidentialist.

straight up atheism.

theres an explanation for everything. some guy or girl or who knows what controlling everything from up in the clouds is not it. for me at least. but if you believe more power to ya.

im an agonistic, i believe that there might be a god or a greater power of some sort that created this world but besides that there is no god that hears ur prayers or anything like that. if god was real and really loved us why would he make it that 4/5 of the worlds population goes to hell, i think that if that was real that would be a total dick and selfish god that if u dont believe in me and do what i say then u have to spend eternity in hell. for me that doesnt make sense, whats the punishment for failure? enteral suffering? and people say its gods will he can do whatever he wants. then why pray to him if its his will, the only reason would be to have a false sense of security,
sorry for ranting me and my friends just debate religion alot. thats just my view on it. power to whatever u want

otters, but nice reference.

its not really a religion, but i just think of god as a personification of fate. most people dont like to think that they have no control, but from a scientific standpoint, there really is no control, at least as far as im concerned. so i guess im pretty much atheist, but i understand why others have and need their beliefs. i just think its kind of a weakness really, id rather be my own boss. nobody dreams of having a career in a cubicle all their lives, they wanna move to the top. why not do that with your life from the start?

i was raised catholic. but so far im pretty sure i mainly beleive in the teachings. people take the bible too literally. a lot of it is a good base to live your life off of. of course its gunna be outdated.

I have no preference, I find church to be crap. I guess you could say I am a christian something a long those lines. I read the bible but don't practice any organized religion.

Though some people may hate I am Roman Catholic, not because my parents raised me in it but because I believe it.

Pretty much

I was raised catholic but now am agnostic, as long as your a good person why does it matter who you believe in?

when i was little my parents forced me to go to sunday school every sunday, then church after. i hated that shit with a passion.

i'm pretty much an atheist though, i just can't justify some guy in the sky controlling what i do. i'd rather have fun with life than try and conform to what some guy who we don't even know is real says. fuck it. live life for yourself.

Seventh day adventist. There is no doubt a god in this world. We have been given snow for a reason. Why isn't there snow on other planets? Its not necessarily about what your religiion is, but your relationship with god. Many religions have been twisted and re-wrote, and can be misleading.

I see by those cute little x's that you are straight edge. Therefore you have lost all credibility.

That said, i am pastafarian. RAmen.

here, let me fix that for you:

All religions have been twisted and re-wrote, and can be quite different from their original concepts of what life might be about.

the idea of religion is gone.

religion was to be an idea not a belief.

with all the good that religion preaches, you can find it to behind almost every war. But whatever who am i to say anything, i just believe facts.

i have no religion, the only thing i believe in is karma (not ns karma, but real world karma, i truly think it exists)

not to mention the billions upon billions upon billions of undiscovered planets. who knows whats on them

Atheist, if you couldn't tell from the "Is God a Delusion" thread.

Whats actually kinda startling is to realize how much the word "Atheist" freaks people out, its almost like "Anarchist". How many members of the House and Senate are atheists? Statistically, even in the US we'd have a few. Too many people are paying lip service to avoid an unfounded stigma.

It's disturbing to me how the word Athiest is sometimes associated with having no sense of right and wrong. Or like, "You can't be athiest, you're a good person." Or "Atheism does not exist." People have weird beliefs about how God MUST exist.

thats what disturbs me. just because i dont have a religion means i dont have morals? if we look at some of the "morals" of many religions, they are pretty horrifying themselves.

Religion does not explain where we came from!!

why the FUCK are we here and where did all the matter come from?!!!?!

i hate when i start thinking about this, never makes any sense.

doesn't have to make sense, considering we invented sense, and we don't even know where we came from. sense didn't exist in our heads before thought of it, and we didn't exist before we were put here, so trying to make sense of why we're here is backwards logic.
