Whats your favorite thing about skiing culture?

The snobby weekend warriors/powder hunters wearing full north face with dps skis. Get mad when certain chairs are delayed opening because of avy control. “Why Dosent patrol just start earlier”

or really just any ski snobs that spend way to much money and don’t have as much fun as the people spending very little

Going to the smoke shack and finding other people there

This always makes me so happy. One time I was in the bird sanctuary at Loon and just heard someone randomly call out "Fuck - does anyone have an extra lighter." Turns our their group was sitting like 10 feet away from us and we didnt even notice

Gear in the grocery store is fun, but my favorite thing is the little nod of approval park skiers give eachother here in southern Wisconsin whenever we do see eachother Is nice . Like hey there fellow rare species

Getting hyped from the super casual/beginner skiers who think you're the absolute shit because you can get down a double black, even if you're nothing special compared to most people who ski what you ski

For me its the kids. I always love when your on a front side lift and the instructor has a little kid ride up with you. Its awesome to get them super stoked on the day and thinking that they may be the next big name 10 years down the road. I remember it was a crazy bluebird powder day at Vail a while back and I was throwing myself off the backside cliffs. I stomped one and this 12 year old was at the bottom and said, "WOW! How do you do that!!!" It was probably the most stoked Ive ever been skiing.

I remember solo lapping Mineral Basin at Snowbird and was hitting the flora cliffs and there was this one other guy doing the same thing. It always timed out that we saw each other but never ran into each other. Finally after a while we met at the top by the tram and just kind of nodded at each other and skied off. There was nothing really to say, just a common respect that we both threw down hard that day.

People of all different backgrounds can be shred friends. Obviously skiing is a white richer sport, but I've always grown up around a wild mix of people.

how hyped everyone is, and how no one cares what your skill level is in the park as long as your not retarded

All of the great people I’ve met, and how chill everyone is/willing to help you learn something new or give you tips

Maybe it’s biased by location, but there’s pros everywhere. It’s awesome seeing people from your favorite edits just skiing around.

I would have no friends without skiing and would still live in Wisconsin. Chill conversations on the lift can change your life.

grit and determination of skiers to ski by any means possible

everyone around me is genuinely lazy as hell and its good to know that somewhere in the world there are ppl who do what they love unconditonally

That was deep, respect.

Messing with the skiers who get pissed at you over little shit, like not alternating the lift line or talking to someone else in the singles line while you wait
