What’s your DIN setting? Any info you could provide me?

So I just got back into skiing after a 6 year hiatus. I went for the first time this week, and my skis immediately popped off after just landing on a rail. I am older and decided to just spend the rest of my first day taking runs to get back into the swing of things.

I have always been skinny, but I don’t think I gained THAT much weight since I used to ski 6 years ago. I checked and the DIN on my FKS bindings is about 6. I’m 6’2” and about 160 pounds.

What is your DIN and what would you recommend for me? Thanks!!

If you don’t know where you want your din go to a shop and have them set it. For 95% of skiers the recommended din works the other 5% know what they need their din at. The shop will also make sure your forward pressure and everything else is right.

like others have said I would take them to get looked at to make sure they still work properly. Even tho 6 is kinda low you shouldnt double eject from landing on a rail

Edit: 6 years kinda a long time! go check out the buy/sell forum and see if u cant find a cheap deal on some newer gear

Honestly I think my equipment is okay. Like I have nice gear. Full Tilts from probably 2013 and Armada THalls from 2013. And FKS bindings should last forever right?

I do need a good tune up though. Taking them into the shop this weekend, I’ll probably have them test the bindings as well.

5’11 165lbs and ran 9 fin last year. 2 times I had pre ejects when on my noses hard at low speeds. I keep them there cause tons of other times I’ve biffed hard and they came off a split second before my knee was butter

will do, you too! thanks my man

Op from reading the things you say there’s no doubt you first need to weigh yourself and bring your boots and bindings to shop have your din set before you nuke your knees or pre eject and your knees face fuck your teeth right outta your mouth. They’ll set them appropriately including forward pressure and testing springs greasing etc , it would be a good place to start educating yourself.

did you get new boots? Forward pressure on Pivots can be real finicky. If not have you worn down the soles on the boots from walking in the parking lot? Best move is to go to a shop, get a binding check, have them properly set your forward pressure and recommended DIN. If your bindings and boots pass the check, everything is set properly, and your still popping out then you might be more of a gnardog than you think and you can *carefully and slowly* start cranking your din up. Because of the higher elastic travel and release value on the heel piece I usually rock my pivot heels one number lower than the toes and about 1.5-2 lower than I would on another binding. I am a pretty similar height and weight as you and def wouldn't want to be rocking a 6, but it all depends on what kind of skiing your into.
