What's wrong with the kids today

So waiting in the lift lines I overhear kids talking. Kids that are no older then 14. Every other word out of their mouth is F%&K or some other curse word. Or they are cocky little shit talkers. One lift ride, these kids next to me were talking so much shit to this older lady who fell that I had to tell them to shut up. I don't remember talking like that when I was their age. I'm almost 26, maybe the fact that I'm making this thread is proof that I'm getting old. Maybe it's time to hang up the twin tips and start skiing groomers.

i dont know why but kids are turning into douches nowadays and yeah they do swear on every other word, because its so 'cool'-yes i do swear but its when im pissed or trying to emphasize something, but its just stupid when you swear all the time and its not cool to rag on a skier who falls, yes i understand it might be hilarious and i do laugh at them, but i dont make fun of them

Nah, kids are definitely different these days. My group of 5 year olds for an after school program are the most demanding, rude, and disrespectful kids I've ever met. After working with kids for years, I've never encountered ones this bad. It seems every year they get worse and worse.

The 13-15 year olds at the hill are a different story. They think they're hot shit and talk so much crap about anyone and anything. It's horrible. They need to get knocked the fuck down a couple notches and learn respect, manners, and gratitude.

If my kids try and act like that they'll have something else coming to em.

this is starting, and is going to be a big problem for america. Its the new culture. Ya know? MTV, and all that other shit. Kids have access to worse stuff at a younger age. Its also the general quality of parenting has gotten worse. My Mom is a first grade teahcer and I hear it from her all the time, the kids have gotten more disrespectful, and the parents just don't know how to handle it.

Its dumb to assume that beacuase a couple kids that age are assholes that all of them are, im sure there are plenty of good kids out there too

Kids these days are not even close to how me and my friends were 10 years ago. We had mad respect for anyopne older than us. And yeah we cursed, but not like those youngins do today. Not to mention the 12yo girls that are dressing like they are going to work at the titty bar.
I think that parenting plays a huge role in how a kid will act. My 13yo brother wouldnt be caught dead acting like many of the kids on MTV or the ones on the hill. He knows how to treat people, and be nice.
Plus he knows that my parents wouldnt be to happy if he acted like that.

Well when i was between 13-16 i mean we would laugh at people who fell but we wouldnt talk shit to them and such. when i was a kid i had mad respect for people older than me like i viewed them as superiors.

But to whoever mentioned the thing about younger kids being more rude i havent really noticed that here, but maybe thats because im in canada i dont know. im a swimming instructor and i have taught hundreds of kids and i can pretty much remember every one of them that i wanted to drop on their head because they were cocky. most of the kids were really chill and if they werent they were the whiners that were like I DONT WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAANAAAAAAA

KIDS THESE DAYS HAVE NOOOOO RESPECT FOR THERE SUPERIORS.
I HATE IT WHEN FRESHMAN DON'T KNOW THERE PLACE IN HIGHSCHOOL.
i'm just venting. haha

people need to start beating their kids again. there's nothing that says straighten up like the threat of an ass whoopin' from your father "when he gets home." man, those words used to scare the shit out of me.

I work as a teaching assitstant in one of the high schools in my area and man... what a difference. I only graduated 6 years ago, but to see the change from then to now is crazy. I think a huge problem is the lack of authority both teachers and even parents have over their kids. When I was in elementry school it was legit to be afraid of pissing off your teachers because they could do something about it. Now kids pretty much have the freedom to negotiate with their elders and decide what's right and wrong for them. The whole system is complacent and holds firmly on to the idea of "what's right for you and what's right for me might be different and that's ok" and kids are taking serious advantage of it. Since when do 10 year olds know what is what is right and what is wrong? Don't get me started on parents. Ha ha. It scares the crap out of me to think in 20-30 years these kids are going to be running our countries and determining how society works.

Sorry for the rant.

ithink some of what your describing is just not wanting to take shit from people, im not gonna lie, last year when i was a freshman, i wasnt intimidated by anybody, and i wouldnt take peoples bullshit. so thats considered cocky these days, let me tell ya, i dont think thats how it is.
overall, yeah kids are douchebags, get over it.

i was listening to a radio show on CBC and a psychologist was talking about now a days parents are just doing what ever their children want because the resources are available to them, and that because their is so much pressure to get into a post secondary school, they will cater to anything and everything the kids want. and it has just been in the most recent generations, like, the 5-15 year olds. it comes from advertising and TV as well and how people view and interpret it. look at shows like the Hills, and the Gossip Girl. you get 10 year old girls atching it and they are all like, WHY CAN"T I HAVE ALL THE STUFF SHE HAS MOMMY?!?!?!?!?!?! its just sad to see the kids go off on such a sideways track like that, from what it is like to be a real kid.

Are you seriously saying that religion has anything to do with this?

And it's our generation too. Look around you, look what the media has done to so many people. America is NOT a free thinking nation. Everyone is so brain dead and just zoned out all the time.

I wouldnt say that we are "brain dead" I just think that people are too easily influenced by the media. People still have their own ethics and beliefs.... they may just be twisted and turned because of media an modern society.

its not about that.
its about respect. i don't bother them, they shouldn't have any reason to bother me. but the fact is that they don't have respect. which makes them worthless in society.

Im a freshman this year and my school isnt very big so people know people and its all fine, but like you said me and my friends know alot of the older kids and we like fool around and shit we dont like take shit from them or anything. But there is the kids in my grade who go around and like think they can beat the kids up and shit its pretty retarded....i know they would kill me

im 16, i definitely hate when people curse like an idiot. kids younger and even kids in my grade who are immature are just retarded. its completely unessisary

another thing i hate is how kids dont make an attempt to type well. i dot always capitolize my I's or use ' in word like dont, but these kids are terrible, they just dont make an attempt. i make a point not to right "BRB" or G2G when talking to friends. i cant stand it

hahaha i dont really care that much but i met a kid whose 13, and slays the park. the other day he tried to tell me that he fucked his 19 year old sisters friend, and when i said bullshit, he said "next time ill film that bitch yanking my wang." for those of you who ski SR, his names tucker, and hes a legend haha

i hate freshmen. they think theyre all hot shit, disrespecting teachers, balktalking upperclassmen, cutting upperclassmen in line. im not gonna lie, i was pretty disrespectful to my senior brother in high school, not disrespectful, but i didnt know them enough respect. now i realize that i wasnt what a little bro should be like, and now we get along mucho bettero

when i was 15, me and my friends started to go out. but we were at home surely before 1 or 2 and just stood around in a corner hoping that noone older notices us. we wore old or cheap jackets (what i still do when going to a club) and drank a little but not to much. we knew that we were not old enough to get real drunk and we all become good guys...

and now, there are 12/13 yr old people jumping around on the dancefloor with their parents-bought quiksilver jackets, too drunk to notice anything but still try to fight anyone. i dunno how much cases of "teenie+alcohol=night in hospital OR grave" were in the national papers this year.

they are just out of control in my opinion, their parents just do not care like mine did. i hope this thing gets right back in track

i agree with you completely....
back in the day when parents actually spanked there kids they learned to behave.... i see it with my little brother all the time, im 16 and he is 11 and hes the youngest of the four kids and when i would be bad or disrespectful i would always get spanked, or when i didnt eat my food i was forced to stay at the table till those peas were gone, and when i said a "naughty" word to my parents or siblings i got a bar of soap in my mouth... and now i have great respect towards my parents, im a relativily "good" kid, i love peas and always try new foods, and i dont curse in front or around my parents or other adults
my brother has only been spanked mabe 4 times in his life, he has had to soap in his mouth once, and he has never been forced to eat different foods (he gets a complete other meal than the rest of us) the worst thing is my parents act like they treat him like the rest of us.... and he is a little jerk to my mom and dad and they dont understand why hes not like the rest of the siblings
but your right kids need to get spanked way more!!!!!

^ lol when i was like 5 whenever id get in trouble

my parents gave me the choice spanking or time-out

who wants to chill in their room for 10 minutes?

so it was always the beating

im 15 and theres this kid at my hill who claims everything (then cant follow up). and just bluntly trys to make fun of you to you face. and at my school its the same thing. some kids just have no respect. As one of there peers, i can say that they sound retarded. im not one to swear in every sentence, but sometimes it is needed. but some kids take it to a new level.

I definitely believe it's the lack of corporal punishment and over-emphasis on tolerance and sympathy that is killing our kids. I don't mean tolerance like Gay, ethnic, or shit like that. I mean the vapid Politically Correct tolerance, like if a kid is busy lighting cats on fire, teachersa and parents will say "Oh, he's just acting out." instead of dealing with the problem by punishment or teaching. We have gotten into the habit of non-confrontation in everything, and kids don't learn that way. Also, have you noticed school is getting dumber? I know kids in the U of U that can't do long division, or are in Algebra 101 - you know, the stuff you were supposed to learn in 6th grade?

Reading is thrown out the window in English Classes, Math is dumbed down to accomodate those not good with numbers, Hell, my Science classes didn't even have labs, and PE now includes Dance Dance REvolution and they threw out the mile!!!! NO JOKE!!! Everywhere else in the world, England, China, Saudi Arabia, kids are getting an Education. In America, we get a mandatory Baby Sitting. There's a reason why we're being overtaken as a society, a culture, and a world power by everyone else in the world.

As for kids swearing, I swore some as a kid. I wouldn't say every other word, but def. a little. It's a rite of passage for kids because it's a taboo. Parents don't want you to do it, so you rebel. It's just human nature. If they're still doing it in a couple of years, then you should be worried. Otherwise, just be better than them, and they'll catch on to your attitude and ability. The way to get them to stop is not to kick their asses, but show them that it's just not what the best people do.

it's really annoying how much people swear. sure, i will occasionally, everyone does, but i actually swear a lot less then any of my friends. idk why, i just don't feel the reason too. and they don't even swear that much. i hate when people talk a lot of shit also, like it's one thing if someone does something really awful to someone else, then the victim has a right to talk shit. but talking shit for the sake of it? pisses me off a lot

i completly agree. although i am only 16 all the people around me are turning into little gerks

its horrable what kids these days are acting like all the time

its true, im 16 and i notice kids that swear way too much

im not saying i dont swear but only if im really happy or pissed off. other wise i just hate it when kids use swears more than vowels

when I was little, I was scared shitless of older kids. Like as an eight year old, I didn't even make eye contact with...teenagers

The biggest part of it is the way that parents raise their kids. Keep in mind that I'm only 17 but old enough to make my own personal decisions and know what is right and wrong.

From a really young age I was taught to say "please" and "thank you." My Dad likes to cuss but my Mom always told me that just because he did it, didn't mean that I had and that I shouldn't. If you want your kids to grow up to be respectful then take the TV out of the house and teach them the right way. You don't have to beat the kid because they say fuck, you just have to teach them.

i am 13 but you guys are right. but i dont talk shit about people that arent the good about

i feel bad for them because they are just trying to have a good time skiing but whenever the fall the get laughed at

I am 15 now but i used to hang out with older kids when i was younger so i always respected them. Now i dont really hangout with many other kids in my grade because they are mostly all stupid. I learned respect and i dont swear a ton. I only do when i am mad or super happy like someone else said. I was raised well i think and punished when i did bad things. This helped me learn about respect. I think that the younger kids dont know any respect and wont learn.

lol its the same way in animals....
my sister got a cat when she went to college, and she brought it back with her and it is the grumpiest thing..... like even if you are petting it, it growls, and she has never been mean to it (she is an animal rights crazy person) but she hardly ever diciplines it....
her bf also has a cat, and it is the nicest thing, it doesnt run or anything it just sitts there and purrs... lol, and he diciplines it worse than a human would get diciplined... but its a really good cat...
idk if that pertains to the thread but i thought it did....

im 15 but my parents brought me up right. if i tried to pull off shit then they spanked me. i do have to say i cuss to much but i dont make fun of old people if they fall. i only make fun of the gapers who think there hot shit and then fall.

Parents need to beat their kids asses. its the grandparents fault though for raising kids to be such lousy parents today. God damn baby boomers.

i jsut graduated from high school this year..wait last year now...all the other grades were little shits, swearing, doing drugs, saying the had freaking sex in grade 8...the teachers even agreed, most are going to be super stressed from now on as well, won't be good

Parents have jsut become lazy or do the whole 9 - 6 or 7 job so they don't ahve times for their kids anymore, they do wahtever there kid wants and they grow up jsut to be litle punks, bring back the cane or soemthing lol

I was like that when I was younger. Cursing was the cool thing to do at that age. I sure alot of you people were the same way too. Its really not a big deal, when you see young kids doing that kind of thing you just have to calm down and tell them to be more respectful. The kids dont magically know what is and isn't alright to do, they have to learn it from other people.
