holy shit lay off the guy. i dont agree with anything said in this thread but jesus christ u r runnin 20 qustions through this guy cuz he might just have a job! anyway, yeah osx is stable but the programs on it unexpectedly quit a lot. im not gonna whine and moan about em though cuz i dont have to use them besides in multimedia class and i couldnt care less. bottom line is we all ski, so stop being gay.

how do i work in IT? well its simple its called you spice up your resume and turn it into a company. then you wait for a call to see if you get an interview. once you get the interview u need to grab a decent suit to present yourself. be a few min early to show you are interested. arrive with confidence and a smile on your face. greet the interview person with a firm handshake and make short conversation. 'oh the weather sure is snowy today, i cant wait to go ski later on' after that wait for them to tell you to sit and have a seat. now u know a series of questions are gonna be asked so u better come prepared. answer questions with a good answer but not too in detail. try and make then 2-3 min long. after the interview person is done asking questions you know they will want to know what u wanna know a out th ecompany. so u better have a few questions on ur mind. do some research before the interview to have some solid questions about the company. after asking your questions, make simple conversation and thanks them for the interview. also have a few copies of your resume and degree plan on hand because they might now have a copy and want one. always keep a smile on ur face and never chew gum while in the interview. try not to smoke on the car ride to your interview. guys take out the earrings, its not professional. dont bit your nails while being interviewed. turn your cell off. try and say something jsut before you leave so the interview person can remember you when ur name come up. after the interview get in your car and jot down things said in the interview. this will be used to help write a good thank you letter. write a 1 page thank you letter addressing things said in the interview. always thank then for their time and energy. sned it in. wait for a phone call a few days later to see if you got the job. u could be called in for another interview if 2 people are at the same level and they wanna pick the right person. once you have the job you can then begin to work in the IT departmen.

You can't just switch your IP from home. If you're on cable, either the company changes your IP every couple months (I had one IP for over a year) or it just otherwise remains static, unless you're using dial-up or DSL, which are dynamic but the addy itself changes slightly within a range. In that case, Matt could just ban the entire range of IP's.
What I Was saying before is that the money you make has no direct relationship to how intelligent you are. See, the major for hardware work wouldn't be 'Computer Engineering', wouldn't it be Electrical Engineering? Which is one of the hardest majors offered at most schools.

No actually, Andy he is right regarding Computer Engineering. If you want to design and build hardware, this is the field you would take (at most schools I know about).

yeah andy u are dumb telling me i dont know what my own field of work will be when i graduate. wouldnt electrical engineering deal with electrical stuff not computer stuff? engineering deals with the structure of things, hence i wanna deal with the structure of the computer so i go into comp engineering. if i wanna deal with other electronics i would go into electrical engineering. it really simple if u can just comprehend what the major name means. a 5 year old could figure that out.

d-loc, actually I think you should know your own major better. Computer Engineering is for any electronics, not just computers. Almost all electronics today are built using a circuit board. Andy wasn't wrong either, an electrical engineer gains training in circuitry, and a lot of digital logic. They have the ability to design hardware as well.

Computer Engineering is a stream of Engineering.
There are many streams, including Civil, Mechanical, Aero-Space, Electrical, etc. You cannot go to school and take plain engineering, you must pick a stream. Your stream is computers.
You deal with computers, yes, but this knowledge applies to a lot of things. Just a guess, you are in first or second year, right?

Strtange....He really thinks he's making sense... and yes I think I will work my ass of through school so I don't have to pay for it, get my doctorate in law, and make a considerable amount of money at my uncle's firm. By the way, if i was going to make a guess based on your diminuitive dimensions, I'd have to say you're one of those scrawny, meek kids in real life who never really puts up a fight over anything, and you're horribly frustrated by all of this, so you hammer out your frustration on the keyboard in an attempt to irritate people over the internet, where you can be sure they can't beat you up. on a side note, apple's actually very understandable and good about their warranties. if you purchase even the 1 year warrant and aren't happy w/it by the end of that time b/c you THINK something is going, they'll fix it w/o a problem.
i had my g3 monitor go and they overnighted me a box. i sent it out the next day prepaid by them and this was a wednesday. i had it back the next monday.
i've had lots of interactions w/them and they're always very good about what they do. it's peopel who run out of warranties they have problems w/. but then again, most places do that. it's just that apple's a hardware and software company in itself so any bad publicity gets escillated easily...but mind you they haven't had much of that at all.

Why is Mac better for video editing? I understand the programs are better but what else is. When I'm editing video with my PC it runs way better than the powerbooks we use at school.

im not sure why everyone hates macs
there something like 5 years ahead of all other companies in technoligy, also ive had a mac for 2 years now and its been great for me never crashed once, also programs on macs are way better and no one has ever made a viris for one because their so well programed. another thing is flash is one of the best movie programs out there you can do stuff in 10 min that it would take months to do on a pc and how about final cut pro thats another sick program that works on macs
and i pods are so much $ cause the knew ones have 40 g of memory thats as much as my computer

Ipods are so damn popular, that is why they can charge so much. There are a lot better deals storage wise other then the Ipod, but people seem to like the Ipod simply because it's tiny and one of the easiest MP3 players to operate. If you don't mind a slightly bigger package and you are somewhat technically inclined, you might find other MP3 players a better deal. Personally, I have been super pleased with my Ipod and wouldn't use any other MP3 player, but I know plenty of people just as happy with other Mp3 players as well. It all comes down to what features are important to you and how much are you willing to pay.
