Whats wrong w/ my ski?

right under your bindings? like where the screws are?

or maybe theyre just going through the change. are they finding hair where there wasnt before?

I got a bump on my base too, just saw it yesterday, but its from just riding it hard for the past year and a half. I see an indent in the edge where the bump is, so I'm pretty sure I just hit the edge on a rail, and caused the base to bubble up. Check if there is a hit on the edge where the bump is, maybe the same thing happened to you.

yeah i can see it now that i look more closely. shop says theres nothing they can do to fix it and it wont get any better. so my question now is how much longer till the edge rips out? anything i can do to prevent further damage?

my ski did the same thing, and that was last year at the start of the season and i have skied them hard and they are still good, they well totally last your for another 2 seasons, what kind of ski is it?

its just somehitng that goes with skiing, is breakin shit and betting stuff up.

i can think of three things....

1. the bases are bubbling from waxing them improperly, or a manufacturers flaw
2. the screws for the bindings are freaking long and are going through the base
3. you just hit some rocks and your base warped instead of getting a core shot(which means they use thick bases on their skis, kinda like on moments, which is good)

i know exactly what it is, i had the same problem with mine. if these bumps are close to the edge, your edge was dented in. look from the side view right where the bump is, i am willing to bet that it is a dent in your edge causingthe base to push up.

ok.. well if the edge is pushed in then all you can really do is just take an exacto knife to to the bubbled part of the base to smooth it out... i have a friend who heated up his edge when this happend to his ski, worked the edge back to normal and filled in with p-tex the space between the base and edge.

But when this happend to me i just left the edge alone and never really noticed it.

I saw the same thing on one of my skis a couple of weeks ago and they just broke where the buble was this weekend for no apparent reason. hope it will not happen to you.
