Whats with all the hate on Marker Griffons?

bindings are more than an afterthought holding your feet down. it is unnecessary to replace them that often, however the NS sheep that get whats popular (right now griffons, STH 12/14, deadbolts) dont understand that and keep rebuying shitty plastic bindings.

no shit no one pays retail for ski gear. youre not special. i assume i have paid 1/5th as much on bindings as you have in the past 5 years, even with your super dooper discounts.

i predict a flameout quite soon
 
this is a stupid question, bindings differ person to person. of course i love the FKS, but for someone like myself (5'3" 115llbs) it is hard for me to justify buying a binding that is so much heavier and a binding where i dont need all the metal parts and higher DIN. in my case im sure that jesters will infact last me years, be lighter, and cost me less.

news flash: its not a good deal if you have to do it every year. i paid 130$ years ago for bindings that are more durable and more reliable. thats a deal. anyone who knows a K2 rep can get the deal you got....

The OP was stating that he liked griffons, and the hate for them is misgenerated by people who havent ridden them. I have ridden them and they suck compared to FKS and Pseries. i stated this. then comes in claimer kid talking about his jesters on his heckbents like we are supposed to give a fuck, he gets angry because it is suggested that mommy bought his bindings, then it comes out that he DID get them for free (allegedly) in the first place, he doesnt have reading comprehension skills and misses everyones point AND the original idea of the thread, and flames out hard because he gets picked on.

Off-argument question. Will the gryphons have the same durability as the px 12 jib(2006) model? They're all plastic and i haven't had a problem with them, and I ride fairly hard.

Difficult to compare, i'm sure they'll be fine though. You would know if you needed metal bindings

I'd say similar, although it is like comparing rival models from two different car manufacturers - pretty hard to say with any confidence.

Back on topic, when are they going to make metal well built bindings for lighter guys. I have large feet but dont weigh very much so my din is pretty low, I'd love to have STH16s but the dins start at 9 and seen as 7 is pushing it for me theres no point in buying the 16s. I have a pair of 12s n 14s, the 14s feel waaay more solid when I click in and the brake on my 12s got fucked up and bent the opposite way just doing 1s of like a 10 footer. The 12s also seem to come off pretty easily.

I guess the 14 drivers would be a good bet but Iv never seem them for sale. Id really like a bomb proof 12 din binding though. I found some FKS120 but then couldnt find wide enough breaks :( any other suggestions?
 
Either learn to bend your brakes on the FKS, its quite easy or swap the springs out of your STH 16s with the springs from your 12s or 14s.

People have put extra springs in bindings to increase their effective DIN before
 
An old race coach from my mountain used to buy the old look equivalent of FKS 185s, pull the spring out, drill out a penny, and put it all back in to get that much more tension out of it.

I have never swapped springs but I have heard of people doing it on here with STH 16s
 
Ya, he is a killer skier and was a pretty good racer, I think he almost made world cup status.. I think its funny that rather than using washers they drilled out pennies, they must have been the perfect thickness and diameter.
