Take for example this hoodie. Yes its a business and people gotta eat but really...$90... for a hoodie? Come on man? What happened to ski buming?

Yeah, $90 for a ski hoodie is a little much I think. I recently bought a Jiberish hoodie which was like $55 or $60 and even though it’s a nice heavy duty hoodie I wouldn’t want to spend more than that. Idk about other places, but at least here in the Midwest most of my hoodies end up getting shredded by rope toes after a season so stuff does not last long at all. I feel like this is also the reason why a lot of people wear stuff they bought at thrift stores which looks a lot better than some of the stuff a lot of ski clothing companies are making now in my opinion.
 
$90 seems a bit steep for that particular hoodie. And idk what other brands ur referring to but I have a lot of love for brands like arsenic and capeesh. Sure it's not the cheapest but it's handmade stuff made by actual skiers. Plus they do a good job of supporting skiers
 
I’m guilty of buying like a $70 Alex hackel hoodie but bro is sick and I know the money is going into his pockets and I want skiing to be a self supporting industry

for 90 dollars I want this shit hand delivered in a 24 karat gold case by a robe laden ups worker that I get to keep as my personal servant

if I open this alledged “90 dollar hoodie” and the shits not absolutely enshrouded in diamonds I am sending it back

Goodwill is your friend. Brands like this dropped off years ago imo. Better to pay 3$ for some random branded goodwill champion hoodie than a 90$ hoodie made from the same stuff with a different logo.

As with most things, you get what you pay for.

It’s hard to assign value to clothes through just pictures (I have to do it a lot) but the embroidery on this is top notch. It’s puffy like a baseball cap, which is very pricey to do. The hoodie itself is the highest quality blank sweatshirt (thick, washes well, firm and durable stitching) you can get without custom designing and ordering 1000 of them from a factory. Add in the “hype” factor and the price is pretty spot on tbh. Higher than I would do for V items, but not by much.

Anyways what I’m saying is, if you spent the money they’re asking, when you held the hoodie in your hands you would most likely feel satisfied with your purchase.
 
Anybody who says $90 has never tried to small batch order custom printed/screened/etc. garments. At quantities lower than 100 the hoodie alone will cost nearly $40, that's before shipping them to a printer or screening them yourself (~$15-30ea depending on the process and print), and then shipping them off to the customer. Even if Tall T's margins are lower because of the volume they work with I would assume the drink butter crew is getting a cut as well which kills those "huge" profit margins even more.

Obviously if we were talking about marker, atomic, salomon etc. this is a whole different game but personally I'd rather spend that extra cash and help put money into a homies pocket.

thanks for this thoughtful reply. I get that we are paying up for quality vs going to Walmart but I also know the profit margins for luxury goods and even if you double the costs of everything in the supply chain, I know for a fact that it's costing these kids

Agree anything over 50ish dollars is to much that being said if it’s a brand like arsenic which puts the money back into skiing (sending clothes to crews or paying for air b&bs or helping pay for travel) I am willing to spend more especially since they are pretty nice quality.
 
I only buy tall t during their black friday cyber monday sales. Also repsect+ to tall t for doing a lot of their embroidery/printing in house USA.

Yeah same. I live in Canada so to buy a single tall t it would cost me 73$ Canadian.

That's actually expensive for how poor quality a gildan hoodie is. Put one of those side by side to something from Tall T, Jiberish, or even just a Carhart rain defender heavyweight, and you'll be able to see and feel the difference.
 
Anyone who has worked in an embroidery/screenprinting shop knows that most clothing regardless of its niche is grossly overpriced. Love tall t and their presence in the community but I’ll only spend money on their shit if it’s a Black Friday sale.

Pretty much this. Especially with inflation, the only reason why you see $20-$30 hoodies from big brands is massive economies of scale and sweatshop labor. Yeah $90 is a lot but your supporting a small crew of skiers keeping the culture alive and if its quality it will last you a few years. I read somewhere that quality cotton prices have gone up a lot recently.
 
Faction hoodies are the same way but even more bland? $85 for a plain black hoodie with a logo on the front
 
how about companies who make baselayers that cost more than 50$ and end-up having holes tear in them because you accidentally forgot to wash it on its proper settings instead of with the rest of your baselayers. Fuck you Mons.

and outerwear. I got some good deals on EVO for some spring sales but some other products were still laughably-expensive uber super duper tech fabrics for 6 days of resort skiing/year.

I order apparel pretty often for my work and I can tell you for certain they could have sold that hoodie for 65 bucks and still made a huge profit. But hey if people want to buy something clearly overpriced let them do it.
 
Tall T makes quality shit, $90 does seem steep but I imagine the DB homie might get a lil cut for himself I’d hope, that’s worth it to me to support him and buy one. Except I’m broke as fuck atm.
