What's up with the forum cache and post lagging?

Just wondering why I've made 2 posts in a thread on Ski Gabber and each has taken over 1/2 hour to appear.. (the 2nd is 40 minutes and counting)

Is a cache at work, because this happens rarely, perhaps there is a problem?

I think it really reduces the usability of the site. It lowers the flow and increases frustration, and encourages accidental double and triple posting.

Its the karma system and other parts of the site doing daily updates, i notice this pretty often as wel around this time of night. I would like to see if we can push this time frame later, but were in the middle of a bunch of updates so it could take some time to change.

Was this around midnight you noticed this?

as Heath said it's related to karma. We really need to fix it.

Yeah, there's probably a cache at work somewhere, there might be multiple caches conflicting. Anytime you see multiple identical posts, that's the problem.

No it has nothing to do with a Cache. Its 100% the Karma calculation running each night and slowing the site down. We keep pruning it to make things useful, but it grows out of control rapidly. We need to make a major change to the Karma system and it'll completely go away.
