I was riding up the chairlift on a lift that has a mid-station. In the chair in front of me was a father and his daughter. His daughter was probably around 7 years old. As they went to unload at mid-station, the father got off fine but somehow the girl got the foot rest stuck up her jacket. I have no idea how this was possible, but it happened.
Amazingly the guy who sits inside the mid-station house was actually awake, not baked, and totally on his game. He hit the emergency stop really quickly and then ran out to help. The girl is now hanging like superman, arms and legs hanging free, supported by the footrest/safety bar stuck up her jacket. She has about 6 feet of air beneath her feet when holding her feet straight down, maybe a little more.
Liftie and father first get her skis off. They can't reach to unzip her jacket and she either can't or won't unzip it, or perhaps they thought that was a bad idea. They tried various things for a while and then settled on the liftie pushing her by her ski boots, with the father waiting to catch her in his arms. This worked surprisingly well and he caught her in the superman position that she had been in for about 20 minutes while being suspended in the air by the lift.
