What's the funniest way you've broken poles?

I was skiing in the park and came off a barrel shaped and painted to look like a hot dog. 270 out, when i got to the bottom of the park, noticed I was missing half of my pole. Go back up, the bottom half of the pole was stuck in jump to the hotdog barrel. To this day i still use the remains of the pole as a POV GoPro pole.

Not me but my brother broke a pair of brand new poles the first morning he had them. He was riding the lift and likes to sit on them, you know, put them under your leg so you can do things with your hands. Well the poles were longer then he thought. They got stuck between the chair and the back of the restraining bar after he raised it. He got off the chair but his poles didn't and he bent them before he even got to use them.

1st day of skiing for the year, caught my tips in pow under the lift. Rolled over the poles and bent one about 70 degrees. Got laughed at when i was looking at the pole. Had two people say they had never seen a pole bent that bad

I was screwing around with my friends in the lift line when my reasort was practally empty one day amd my friend pushed me I fell over on my pole and broke it

i had a similar thing happened to me. put my poles under my ass and then forgot about them. as we're literally like 5 feet away from the spot to get off i realize they're still under me. tried to pull em out but the basket got caught on the back rest and i ended up snapping them with the leverage in my gooch, bending them over the seat while the backs stayed under the backrest. that was a fun one

my buddy was standing at the top of a run and i came scooting by him and ninja sliced his cheap aluminum pole in half with my nice k2 pole. i honestly didn't expect it to happen....i was just fucking with him, but it turned out even more hilarious than anticipated.

done this exact thing.. got one out, but other was still stuck, ended up nutting myself with it and snapped it falling a few feet down onto the snow.

tried to drag my noses off the knuck of a jump and right as i pressured onto my tips my surfaces delammed- the ski base folded under the rest of my ski and bodyweight and sent me into an insane face dive into the flat bottom. somewhere in the tomahawk I broke both poles and obviously the ski as well.

had a brand new of carbon fiber scott poles...went to do a pole plant on the top of a hip, snapped like a twig.

had my right pole get caught between my legs getting off the lift. It stuck into the snow and literally bent around my leg.

when i was learning to hit rails a few years ago i would just stand up on them without moving, and i would support myself with my long gaper poles and once they snapped

my friend took both of my poles and threwthem on the street lets a few cars go over them, then hit em against a tree and now i have 2 newgo pro mounts

i was up skiing at alta with my dad last april and was shredding this bump line. when to plant and my pole just snapped in half completely. it was expected because they were joysticks that ive been using since the '09 season.

front flipped off a null on a powder day and landed with pole in the ground and ass on top of the pole with momentum that would have brought me to major backseat. Pole snapped in half right there.

Did ski team in high school. Went to start a practice run during my senior year and I guess I put so much pressure/weight on them to get a hard start that one broke and stayed right there at the gate lol

didn't really break them, but i lost a good pair at Boulder. The darkness swallowed them when they fell from the chair lift ;_;

My old mountain would put these huge bamboo poles right by the lips of the rails, to show that there's a feature. One of my buddies got pissed about not landing a trick or something, and smacked it with his pole thinking it was flimsy. Broke his pole right in half haha

Did a 360 and my thigh sat on my right pole. It snapped when I landed. I had a bruise there for weeks.

I have snapped two poles by doing that on two seperate occasions

lift slowed down and I tried to hit one of those lift towers but right then the lift stopped, got my pole stuck between the lift tower and the chair and it snapped my pole and sent the chair rocking side to side

literally tapping my pole on my boot to get the snow off...snapped right in half didnt buy another pair of poles for 2 years...simply "rented" from a local ski shop muahahah

I was bringing some kid up the lift for his teacher and i slid them under my legs, when we got to the top i was about the pull that up then the kid started slipping and grabbing my poles and i couldnt pull them out, needless to say my gooch was hurting

exact same thing happened to me last season :/this year i got longer skis and was still getting used to the length, tried a nollie off a roller, caught tips and proceeded to fly a nice 20 feet down the run, bending both my poles to shit :(

Sat down on one of the oldest 3 man chairlifts -I've seen- in Espace Killy going up to a black called V (I think). Sat down and this BIG guy beside me sat on my poles and snapped one of them clean in two, it made him fall off though, so overall it was a positive

my bro was taking an avy 1 class, and the guide says,

"smacking your boot with your pole can break it. Flip it around and use the handle instead."

My bro flips his pole around and then proceeds to break the handle off, smacking it against his boot.

I was sitting on my poles and they got stuck when i was getting off. My nuts won the battle and broke the pole.

however, later in life one of my nuts lost the battle //unrelated

One fine day at Shawnee Peak I was riding the lift hanging my poles down between my legs. As I was talking to my friend, i failed to realize that the halfway station was approaching, and I soon hear a "brrrrrrpphhhhhhh" from underneath me. When I realized what happened, i looked at my poles and they were curved 90 degrees from grip to basket. They ended up bending back into place and finally broke while I was poling to the lift line a few years later.

I was chatting it up with a cute lifetime when I wasn't really paying attention where my poles were. I went to sit down and the poles got caught against some piece of metal and jammed the handle into my ribs knocking the wind out of me mid sentence and bending the pole completely in half. I went back embarrassed as shit, gave her the pole and got her number. Pretty damn funny. Except that she was weird as hell and nothing happened. Haha

landed with one forward and jabbed my ribs. pole bent at over a 90 degree angle some how. good thing to because thy ribs would'st breaketh

My home mountain has a double black called Devo's Pitch and it's super steep. I snapped one of my poles when I thought it was okay to big air off of a mini ridge at the bottom of the pitch without checking landing. Yeah I hit that ridge mockin it & there was definitely a boulder right on the other side where I landed. Luckily my K2's are tanks. But the poles are done hahah.

I'm dumb for not checking landing I know

something goofy happened while i was mid rail and i ended up snapping my pole with my leg, the pole was leaning against the rail and the snow, it hurt really bad
