What's the east coast like?

Massachusetts: I live in western mass. i like it because it's not the suburban/city scene. there's pretty much no real cities near us(except springfield, and albany, but i don't really count those as "cities"). western mass is chill i would say, pretty rural, a lot of townies, although in the summer it's so fucking annoying and full of tourists from new jersey and new york polluting our towns. Eastern Mass, due to Boston being there, it's very subruban and urban. although i consider bostonians to be much more chill than new york city people. (trust me i would know considering we get tourists from both cities in my town). but a big downside is it's pretty breakneck liberal here. haha i laugh sometimes, because where i go to school, i don't think anyone knows that i'm conservative, because im almost afraid to express my opinions, because i know i'll be ripped on. i don't mind living here, but i definitely want to move out when im older.
New York: cool city(NYC). tons of shit to do, cool vibe, VERY big and diverse, although i would never want to live there. people are known to be much less hyper and laid back up here in MASS. upstate new york is beautiful, the adirondacks offer good skiing, and great hiking. Albany is a pretty shitty city, nothing going on, and the surrounding towns suck pretty hard. Buffalo's definitely a cool place, with a good vibe, and nice people.
Vermont: Nothing really to do besides all the outdoor stuff. not any big cities, although Burlington's a very cool place, with sick shops and good restaraunts. This is another state i don't think i would ever want to live in. tons of hippys and liberals. althoiugh a lot of the real locals are cool and laid back.
New Hampshire: This is probably my favorite New England state. offers a ton of stuff to do outdoors in the mountains. the white mountains are pretty awesome. although many bostonians go up here, as i stated above^, they are a lot more laid back , and less "touristy" then New Yorkers for the most part. this is definitely a super cool state to live in i'm sure.
Maine: pretty good skiing, lots of stuff to do outdoors. i bet it can be boring at times not having much going on though.
Conneticut: Not my favorite state, but not my least favorite. Hartford, the capital, is a pretty cool place. lots of stuff to do inside and outside the city. BUT as you get farther south, in farfield county(suburbs of NYC), you get that same new york crowd that annoys the shit out of me. not much skiing here, but you can drive up to VT with is only a few hours away.
Rhode Island-pretty non-existant state. i guess it can be nice though, on the shore. not really any skiing there, but you can drive up to NH which is pretty close.
New Jersey: pretty much characteristic of what i stated above, there's the NYC crowd there. everyone's super materialistic, and smug. I would never in my life want to live there.
Pensilvania: i guess a pretty cool state. philly and pittsburgh, are cool cities. not much skiing here though.
DC Area: not much skiing close by, really hectic inside and outside the city. not really a place i would like to live in.
The South: Not great skiing. cool people, very polite, tons of job opportunity(sp?). definitely a very cool place.

i've lived in salt lake, vegas, newark, trenton, and philadelphia. by far philadelphia is my favorite east coast city on the planet, i was born and raised going to nyc, yankee games yadda yadda yadda but my recent expirences have shown me that phila is the dopest. the west coast is far superior in almost everyway, and Salt Lake City being my favorite city in the west, although the pacific northwest gives it a run for its money....

everything on the east coast is very fast paced and everybody just stays in their own little world and goes about there own business... it really lives up to all the stereotypes you would assume for east coast city life....

but suburban new jersey is nothing like what you think it is, plenty of farms and chill ass kids who like to smoke pot and play beer pong all night. the termanology is a bit differnt and sometimes i say things that make people say whaaaa???? my time in phila has me saying "no what im saying" and calling other kids "bull" but its a mix of bull and boy and if you didnt know it you would probably think i was just saying boy, not sure if thats just a north philly kensington thing cuz thats the only place i've stayed at.

if i had the money to live in an area other than kensington(was living there for ALL the wrong reasons) i would definately live in philadelphia, but as of now im using new jersey as a jump off until i can get back to the greatest city (im my humble opinion) Salt Lake... so that was more of a rant and barely touched basis on what you were even asking, but the answer was simple, the east coast is everything you think it is in the major cities, and absolutely the opposite of that in the suburban areas unless your in some areas of bergen where all the rich people live. but even that I just moved to Hunterdon County and apparently its supposed to be all "rich" bbut seems pretty normal to me.

i disagree about the south. i personally do not like southern people even tho i have family there...they aren't really that nice it's just a saying. i can't stand going there because of all the southern belles (yes they exist), but thats just me.
as for pennsylvania, i really don't like it here either. pittsburgh is cool but it's overrated. our governor has fucked our state repeatedly causing it to spiral a bit out of control...skiing isn't bad or at least not as bad as people think.

I live in NC, I love it here. Where I live most things are laid back and chill. I can either drive less then an hour either east of west and I'm either in the mountains or a decent sized city. oh and the food... mmm gotta love greasy southern food :]

Report from the maritimes: At the moment, it's raining cats and dogs, all live photosynthesizing plants are very green the temperature is about 20 degrees Celsius, over the last couple days it's been way too hot and muggy, with thunderstorms. The beaches are nice when it's sunny.

In a couple months, the leaves normally start to change colours and tourists flock to the maritimes and New England states to drive extremely slowly and take pictures of the leaves.

Around January, the east will start to get significant amounts of snow (1-3 feet in most places). In the Maritimes, skiers and snowboarders will flock to small, icy hills. The countryside will be filled with the echoes of two-stroke engines and the lingering scent of diesel. It will probably be a similar situation in the rest of the east, but the hills are larger. 'roundabout March everything will start to melt, and by April it will be a muddy, slushy mess with anything that has been near a public road saturated with salt.

I hope you feel at least somewhat enlightened by this description. Further questions are welcome. Feel free to PM me.

new hampshire is sick. no fucking retarded drivers like in mass, and not many hicks. and ive met zero people who say"wicked" we leave that to harry potter. everything is pretty close together in each town, so its good for chillin

idk i like the south. both my parents went to college at wake forest(north carolina). and they liked it a lot. ive gone down there before multiple times and liked it. there's obviously people down there, just like the north that arent nice and rude. although i think as far as the guys down there, they're a lot more polite and friendly. my mom said though that a lot of the girls look down upon girls from the north, but the guys are a lot more accepting.
+ the south has awesome pulled pork, haha.

I agree with what somebody said up there, Nyc is a nice place to visit but I wouldnt want to live there. Dont get me wrong, i'm from NY, about an hour north of the city, but people need to stop judging the east based on NY or Boston. Its very different from one state to the next. Ive never been out west but they definatly win with skiing. From what I understand about Cali i wouldnt want to live anywhere near there, i like the NY lifestyle

i live in upstate new york. most of it sucks kinda but i live in a town that i absolutely love. chillest most awesome place ever. east coast is pretty dope imo.

i keep reading replies about new york and boston but that doesnt make up all of the east coast. for culture, hit up northern new england (Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont) we all just love to relax. we dont need big cities to thrive, and we all live pretty damn well. Burlington... fucking amazing place at least for younger adults and college students. or Freeport, Maine... the new village area is sick and its just a great place to walk around, has a bunch of sweet shops (oakley just got a place there) and just has a lot of fun

many east coasters will love it here, but will always want to venture out to the west coast mountains in the winter.

its all your own opinion

i live in new hampshire. and yeah we do get a lot of icy snow all the time. but how i like to think of it is that any trick you do on the east coast will be way easier in the west because in the west the parks seems to always be nailed down to perfection.

fuck the east coast

-its icy all the time

-it fuckin rains all the time

-everyone who isnt in a city is a hick, except for me; because i'm thug life

-all the mountains are small, and have annual snowfall of like 3 inches

-boobs

seriously though, its not that bad.

forgot 2 states! southern maine and maine! hahaha maine is just hicksville and its boring as shit. Southern maine is also kind of boring, but it isn't incest uneducated weird peoplefarmers.
and WTF is up with hella? is it equal to our wicked? i never say "thats wicked" but i do say "wicked cool"

One more thing that makes me hate these East v. West threads. People always bring up, California is full of rich bastards. You said to not judge the East on two cities because each state has a different vibe. Why can judge CA just because Beverly Hills is full of rich bastards or LA is a bunch of rich people? California is a MASSIVE state, different parts will have different vibe. The county I live in is bigger than Rhode Island and almost as big as other NE states. LA is not full of rich ass people, it's full of sketchy ass Mexicans. Hollywood is not just a bunch of rich people either, in all honesty, Hollywood is mostly ghetto, BAD ghetto. San Francisco is an amazing city, it is rich with culture and taking a trip to San Francisco is almost like taking a trip around the world. Yes there are rich people, but no more than NYC or Mass. You cannot generalize CA based on two cities. There are so many cool places and I am sure that there is no where on the East comparable to our mountain range or its national parks. I'm sure there is no place on the East where 761,266 acres are devoted to just one national park- Yosemite, 462,901 acres- Kings Canyon National Park, 404,051- Sequoia National Park. All of those are an hour or less away from me. Yes, 1,628,218 acres of national park all less than an hour away from me, find that on the East. That concludes my little rant. Don't generalize CA because of two cities you have only seen on TV. CA is as big, if not bigger then the entire area of NE combined.

see any meathead film. at sunday river (maine) you'll meet some diehard motherfuckers. when i've skiied out west it seemed to me that many many people were not from the area. i dont you get that as much in little east coast mountains and you end up with a lot of people who get up at 5 to go skiing at their crappy little mountain and do the same icey mogul trail untill the mountain closes.

see: radio ron, the hammer. heroes of mine.

lemme tell you about maine, the true representation of the east coast. The people are fuckin down, and the people from mass are not. This carries across all aspects of maine. Massholes flood our state and bring negativity and general assholishness to a beautiful and relaxing mostly rural atmosphere. Aside from massachusetts blowjobs fucking around on our farms and fields, maine is awesome. You've got so much nature to enjoy. Endless forests and stateparks to explore. as long as you stay in the southern half of the state and towards the coast, you will experiance what maine is like. There's two cities in the lower half of the state, Portland, which is chill, and a huge haven for all the trendy kids in the area. Most kids from the area are awesome, and all the 30+ crowd is super bro, with a hick aspect. its hard to describe unless you've seen it for yourself. Then you've got where i spend my time, auburn/lewiston, which is muther fuckin hood, especially lewiston. There's a war going on between the somalians and the people. I have never seen such intolerance in my life. its almost sad but the somalians get what they deserve. So in the city everyone is just not tolerant to the somalians, but everyone else is super friendly to eachother. This rings true for most of my local area in maine. yea maine is a melting pot of bull shit but basically everyone is super friendly unless your african. skiing wise, its just mainers versus massholes, and a lot of them are assholes, but if you are chill and dont cause no shit you can fit in.

NY has got to be one of the most beautiful states ever. there is just so much you can go see in NY. you have ofcourse the city, and then there is the Adirondacks. The most beautiful area ever. There is just so much to do, so many different people, and fun times all around. I live in the Adirondacks, and it reaqlly has got to be hands down the most wonderful place to live. to wake up in the morning and look out your window to Lake George, one of the most cleanest lakes ever and have that in your backyard. or looking out over the mountains. its almost breathtaking. i would not trade it for anything in the world. have not really been to many other palces on the east, but they are all good and i have heard nice things about them.(just stay away from jersey)

Pittsburgh = greatest place in Pennsylvania for sure. In fact, that's where I am right now. THE CITY OF CHAMPIONS!!!

You keep mistaking knowing how to drive with twats in a city so congested with cars you can barely switch lanes and people with sticks so far up their ass they don't care if they hit you or not.

central upstate new york has nothing besides farms. So boring. But the adirondacks and the city are awesome

no, your an idiot

if you dont know how to drive, your going to get hit. My dad is a great driver, and he drives like a maniac in the city. In a manual car BTW.

These drivers, they get where they need to go quickly, like cabs. And they fuck people up if they have to

The south is not a bad place. We are known for our southern hospitality. Yeah, there are people down here that aren't the nicest, but overall we're polite and mind our manners. And those "southern belles" are not bad either.

And yes, we've got some pretty good damn pulled pork!

This. In Michigan everybody is all tense because they are in fear of loosing their job or already have lost it. But i kinda like growing up in Michigan, not a whole lot of worries.

HAHA, YES.
whenever my dad's friend from college, who still lives in NC, comes up to MASS to visit us, we always make him bring up some pulled pork for us.
thats one thing that new england lacks....good meat.haha
