so if i wanted to buy a powder ski it would be more versitile than a big mountain ski ?

When you ski powder, you can do it anywhere that has it. Big Mountain, you need hike out to scope spots in which you have to build a snow pit and you have to kill three mountain goats or two wolves or one bear. After checking the strength of the snow pack pour the blood of your game on your snow column. Then use the rest of the blood to wax your skis.Unlike powder skiing, Big Mountain skiing is serious business.

powder usually implies slower speeds, deeper snow, more trees, less varied snow performance.
big mtn skis: long, stiff, conventional sidecut, usually have regular camber.
pow skis: shorter, softer, sometimes have crazy sidecut (i.e. pontoon, arg, hellbent), sometimes reverse camber or rockered design.

hit it, bigmountain is most steep gnar terrain outside of the park, pow can be a part and it cannot

Powder is about the same to ski everywhere... steeps are made a lottt easier.
Big Mountain inplies steep, harder lines, possible drops, in varied snow conditions... including powder, but more likely just "softer snow".
POwder skis are built with more innovative original designs, because powder snow is similar to a liquid, where in harder snow, you want a more traditional ski.

not necessarily. bmt skis are designed to face more versatile conditions. because as much as we all wish, there arent always 3 feet of fresh where we go to ski bmt. also they are stiffer and dont have reverse camber or sidecut, which helps them hold up on groomers better. if your legitimately lookinginto a bmt ski you will be a strong skiier, not the typical push turn park rat, and you'll be able to bring the bmt ski in most places anyways.
