What's the deal with the stupid ass fashion in the ski world?

So I've been out of touch with the ski world for pretty much all of my life. I've always skied, but never paid attention to the fashion and trends. What I want to know is why people think they look good in 3xl shirts, and retardedly huge pants? It's not even really gangster at all when you're some skinny ass kid in pants made for a middle aged man and a white tee that looks more like a dress.

Can someone explain this to me?

Haha, no but seriously, I wear comfortable clothes because they're comfy not because of what it looks like.
 
i think it looks cool...

its just the way the sport is.. i try not to hate but im glad skiing is staying mostly "gangster" rather than the whole gypsy thing thats getting/is big with boarding depending where you live.. really long as youre out there killin it, wear what you want
 
I'm more speaking to the kids who post for sale ads here that say NEED SOMETHING JIBERISH XXXXXXXL OR BIGGER

That jiberish stuff isn't even good looking for the most part.

i wear low-key (solid blue) OG saga.i bought anthems because i wanted to try a fat symmetrical park ski, and can't run to daddy for a free pair of skis.i bought rory silva's because i needed a decent pow ski, and i found this on tramdock for like $200

if you don't get it, then just stfu. no one comments on how you dress. why do you carry how other people ride or how other people where their pants? what difference does it make to you? i dont get ppl lik you. just worry about yourself and stop feeling like you need to hate on how other people dress.

im sorry but this always comes up and i think its ridiculous that kids say they wear tall tees and baggy shit cuz its comfortable. Its true baggy stuff is comfortable but so many kids wear this shit to be thug and you know its true. I have no problem with it, it doesnt bother me how hood rich kids wanna dress, but just admit to the fact that you wanna dress "hyphy"

Why do you care if other people look dumb? There is a lot of people who like the baggy tall t style, and lots of people who don't. And who's to say whether or not it looks good?

Regardless of how baggy or tight the clothes are, you have to admit Jiberish makes some cool designs. Plus the owners are such chill, nice guys. You don't call everyone with afterbangs or invaders trendwhores because they're good fun skis, so why is everyone that rocks Jiberish a trendwhore?
 
Style may be subjective, but I'll offer a couple of points of mine that most kids will disagree with
1) criticizing style is OK - the to-each-his-own argument is noble, but it is usually the pussy way out.2) wearing baggy shit is comfortable? so be it. I buy it. Wearing a tall tee that goes below your knees? I'm having a tough time buying that one. My biggest criticism isn't that it is aesthetically lame (which I do think) but rather kids saying it's comfortable when they are doing it solely for appearance and to be in the current trend: that's all well and good (weak, but fine), but at least be honest about why, rather than just a little bitch.

But to OP, tall tees and shit is just another phase. People get caught up in it just like in any other realm, and that is the way it is.
 
The next trend is going to be skinny clothing. At the tramdock the other day and saw two snowboarders with skinny ski pants. Dont know how comfortable those are but i cant imagine there that great.

In my opinion style should be every one to there own there is no gay or stupid style its just not what we would prefer to wear. So if i wear a 2xl tall t around that dont mean im trying to be gangsta i just think it looks sick and i dont give a fuck what the people who critisize me think. Just like when i wear fitted clothing thats not supper sagged some of my freinds give me shit but i dont care cause im pulling it of in my opinion. Dont wory so much about what other people wear when they ski just because it doesnt suit you doesnt mean its not sick style.

you should give your soul away for caring what people wear. for christ sake, let kids wear what they want. if they look stupid, so be it. if they wear tight pants, so be it. if their pants are at their ankles, then that is what they wear. why does it matter to everyone what others wear? do you go up to people in europe and say that they look like freaks because they have different clothing styles? do you go up to people in the south because they wear cowboy boots, plads and wrangler jeans, do you go up to people in AK and make fun of their traditional Eskimo wear? god damn, just give it up, let people wear what they want and dont worry about it. idiots you are.
 
why dont you go skiing yourself instead of bashing those that do and possibly ski better than you. it is what it is. you cant tell me neon in the 80s , dull colors in the 90's, or anything else you fucking wear while you ski isnt a trend. ANYTHING you were is a trend in one way or another. Quit bothering others because of their style just because YOU DONT HAVE ANY!!!
 
baggy pants look really good with ski boots because they are so much bigger than normal shoes therefore fitting pants look pretty awkward. baggy pants without a tall tee or big shirt/jacket just looks weird so thats why it's like that. i am personally a fan of the street look with ski pants that look like jeans and flannels...that 686 levis shit is on point!! wish i had a flannel to rock but no cash and some bitch back home has the only one i have! grrrr
 
Well, yeah baggy pants look good with ski boots, but not when they're sagged down a few inches above your knees. And baggy jackets yeah, but no 160 pound kid needs an XL even. And t-shirts? Newsflash, you're fucking skiing. Not only do they look stupid, THEY'RE FUCKING TSHIRTS.
