Whats the deal with the SOPA PIPA?

it is basically the governments way of trying to take away our first amendment rights on the internet. They build it up to not look as bad by saying they are doing it to catch terrorists and keep america safe, but in reality all it does is take away the privacy of honest everyday americans. Its like the Patriot Act for online
 
Also this is a HUGE step towards a fascist totalitarianism government and we are completely fucked as a nation if someone like Rick Santorum or Mitt Romney because they both want to go back to Iraq, Santorum wants to invade Iran for no real reason besides thinking that the US is the global police force.
 
It's got nothing to do with terrorists.

SOPA is (or was, after yesterday's blackout the bill is losing its sponsors left and right) a bill written with a left hand, basically allowing copyright owners to limit and shut down websites that have or link to copyrighted material and they could do this immediately without a court order. This would basically mean that even sites like YouTube, Facebook, Twitter, Google etc. could be shut down, limited or blocked.

PIPA I'm not too familiar with but I guess it's more like the ACTA being discussed in the EU.

Stop Online Piracy Act (SOPA) is geared to prevent the use of websites that are in violation of copyright infringement. It is the governments attempt to regulate the internet.
 
Pretty much, whenever somone posts a copywritten piece of material the website is liable for it.

So Say, you make an edit using a Drake song (Just bare with me) Since it is copywrite Newschoolers is liable and can be sued. SO to prevent them from getting sued, newschoolers would say NO VIDEOS UNLESS NO MUSIC, blah blah blah.

a) we are not moving towards a fascist totalitarian government.

b) nor mitt nor rick will elected president. (im a republican, but im voting for Obama)

c) no one is invading iran

d) US is actually becoming less of a US global Police force.

FUCK SOPA, PIPA AND THE OTHER SHIT, worst laws I've ever heard, and it affects people outside US... Fuck stupid Us laws lol..
 
ok here is where you are wrong, in everything you just said.

A) yes we most definatly are, we have police officers using very excessive force on peaceful protesters. The NDAA bill takes away a good amount of our rights that are given to us in the bill of rights, such as not needing a warrant to enter your house even without probable cause. The government is spying on whoever they want to. In a lot of ways this is the same path Germany took by following Hitler. he was elected into power democratically and got everyone to follow him then he started throwing protesters in jail, invading Poland, killing jews, blacks, gypsies, and anyone who was different. I am Not saying Obama is the next Hitler or that a mass genocide is on the way, but we are without a doubt on the path to a fascist totalitarianism government

B) There is a good chance that one of them will win the republican nomination; and with the republicans in senate and congress blocking anything productive that the dems or obama try to do it has caused obama to look bad like he isnt trying to do anything.

C) Santorum is on record saying that if he is elected he will invade Iran

D) becoming less of one now because we are out of Iraq. but if remember a couple months ago when everything was going on in northern Africa we helped the diferent rebellions overthrow multiple people in high power positions. and Santorum wanting to invade one of the most PRO-AMERICA nations in the world because they have nuclear power is exactly what being a global police force is.

try looking at more than one resource when you try to prove someone wrong

ok here is where you are exaggerating in just about everything you said.

a) assume you are talking about the police brutality on the occupy protesters. well if we were moving towards a "totalitarian" government, the few cases of pepper spray would be least f the worries. in a totalitarian government, the military would have moved in and likely massacred many of the protesters.

the NDAA agree is kinda fucked up. but its not like the US is the only democracy with such laws. many countries have a law similar, but they remain a democracy.

b) when it comes times to vote, i will bet you $100 that obama will be elected the next president of the united states.

c) AHAHAHAA santorum is not getting elected. i know that there alot of dumb rednecks out there that will vote for him, but he has no chance against Obama.

d) Once again, santorum is not getting elected.

I would also like a Works consulted document with all of the resources that you looked up in order attempt to prove me wrong on the very serious Non-Ski-Gabber forum.

 
im pretty sure i said we were moving Towards that type of government, not already apart of one.

you do not know that, the far right wing has been working as hard as they can to scare people away from obama in hopes that a radical republican aka romney or santorum will win the election

i did not say he would get elected, i said he is on record saying that he will invade Iran IF he is elected
