Whats the deal with the rampant sexism in NSG?

has it really gotten to the point where unless the pink name posting has hundreds of posts/high karma, that the only response they will get is "what are you doing out of the kitchen?" or something along the lines of "let's bang!"

I know it is, for the most part at least, all a joke and everything, but people need to quit acting like such fucking idiots.
 
yeah NS has gotten pretty bad for noobs in general. i think they just have to lurk a little before posting, because i never got shit on because i only made intelligent posts
 
I agree, it was kind of funny the first time, but now it's just fucking stupid when the same joke has been made hundreds of times
 
yea after a while a joke gets old and girls definitly get pissed at shit like that, which makes them not want to post anymore

and on a side note... i wish when u were a new member on NS you had something that pointed u straight to the noob guides of the forums too just so everyone knows whats up before they get made fun of then never want to come back on, cuz that happened to one of my friends

report it to the mods. we are trying to crack down on it but we dont see every post.

I'm not gonna lie, she did bring some of it on herself on a few occasions. (I've never participated in the hate for her) But now it seems like even when she posts something valid and interesting, everyone calls her a dumbass etc

If a joke is funny, I'll laugh. That being said, I haven't seen a single funny sexist joke on this website in years.

It's just making it that much easier to ban people.
 
i think the only justifiable form of it would be people and their opinions women's skiing, the two are separate. The sandwich jokes are from children.

It's a pain, I still get a lot of sexist shit.

Getting shit, was the reason I lost my first account and didn't get a new one for another 3 years. As there was so much sexism it really turned me off this site until i was mature enough to realise they're just stupid immature boys that haven't hit puberty yet.
 
nah dude, i speak my mind just like anybody else on here. it's just fashionable to hate on me. and all this shit started because people kept making sandwich jokes and tits or gtfo. and well, i'd never been spoken to like that in my entire life. so obviously it was a shocker. and you'd be surprised at how many pinknames don't post because they don't want to be harassed. i'm the perfect model for something that started out innocently, that turned into a pms war.
 
I honestly think guys think that girls cant be funny. Something posted with a pink name vs. a blue one is taken in seriously different context. Guys get all up tight like were trying to be "bitches" and were just saying the same thing some smart-ass guy would say. I honestly couldn't care less about the sandwich jokes and kitchen jokes because I can take hassle. But srsly. We can ski, theres a reason were on here, we aren't on here to pick up guys. I honestly think "tits or gtfo" is hilarious but other girls might not be down. But seriously, there's a good chance a lot of us women are older then you boys we aren't going to bang you or anything soooo...
 
Speaking your mind is one thing; saying stupid shit on a regular basis just to piss off a bunch of people on NS is another. Pink name or blue name makes no difference. Most of the hate on you was self inflicted. If you intend to stir up a shit storm, then you have to be prepared to get shit on yourself.

As to sexism in general, I would just blow it off. The jokes were funny, but are way played at this point. The kitchen jokes are most likely only funny for the guys who post them. Mostly no one else reads them. I'm pretty sure that the guys who do still post this crap are the same guys who try to show a girl they like her by throwing rocks at her. One day they will learn that shit don't flush, and the callouses on their palms will get smaller.
 
Yea I noticed it on the girls ski segment thread. And even after a mod said that people would be banned for it, it still continued. Idiots will be idiots i guess.

Also is anyone else getting annoyed by "inb4..." and "OMG epic thread 1st page". If you dont have anything to contribute to a thread don't post.

But seriously, for the most part pink names don't get harassed unless they bring it upon themselves. i.e. Jennifa who just decided she wanted to be an attention whore and say stupid shit to piss people off. And for those who do get undeserved sexism, ignore it... Because you know that whoever thought the sexism would be funny is just not worth your time.
 
i don't try to piss people off. i'm just here like anyone else trying to have a conversation, and a lot of it gets blown out of proportion. a lot of the things i say are really taken the wrong way.
 
everyone do this. i always do it for spam threads, ill probalyl do it for sexist ones now to. it takes about 30 seconds
 
i'll help the mods out too, i read wayy too much of it and now my bf is starting to talk shit on girl edits because apparently its trendy. i usually just don't post anything on those threads where any sexism is involved but the actual threads worth reading, im over post whoring after 3 years haha
 
I've noticed it in and out over my few years. It's definitely mediocre humor at best...but I've also noticed that the girls who take it with a grain of salt, make it go away quickest. Feeding the culprit only multiplies it...ignoring it makes it go away. You'll never rid a forum of it, as its become 'the norm' in internet society. We can ban though - which helps =) Members will do it because in their mind it is funny, but they soon outgrow it. So as long as there is always new members, we will always have silly things such as sexism in threads. Ignore it, the best you can as an NSer.
 
she speaks the truth. i was once banned for a woman joke. i was thinking, "OM LIEK THIS IS SO FUNNY I SAID KITCHEN AND WOMEN LULZ" and now i realize that they aren't that funny and are overplayed. And also seeing girls write essay responses back to the women jokes can be rather irritating and that always really lets pandora out of the box

When I see a sexist joke, I see it as "that's lame". it's just spam

However, when I see a girl step up and write a paragraph about how sexist it is, it makes me instantly stop paying attention to whatever her argument is, as someone who is getting too upset over internet BS.

It's the same thing when anyone gets super worked up online over any sort of e-callout, guy or girl. It makes you look dumb. Take it with a grain of salt. It's annoying and obnoxious, but only that.
 
I couldn't agree more. But that would just be a joke thrown out. Not an attack on a group of members for a single reason.
