What's the Deal with TGR's Forums? Just Me?

I don't think so. People are fairly accepting of skiers not as good, as long as they are making a worthy effort. It's like in the park. I know that we all hate the racers and gapers that cruise through and don't hit anything, or jump off the side of the lips to rails. But if there is someone there who is new to park and they suck, but they are making an honest effort to improve, I like that. They are trying to get in to the sport. I'll be nice to them, even though they're awful, and give them some pointers if they want.

I think it's the same over at TGR. I have posted a TR over there before, and while I'm definitely not up to the BC caliber of most of those guys, I did not receive one negative comment, because they were all stoked for me for trying, and were glad that there were some of our generation that were not just park rats. If people are actually in to it, and make an honest effort, you will be accepted.

Eh, that's how I am as well, but case in point is the comments section of the photo area here. It can be quite brutal and rough at times.

I'd love to see more photos posted in the photo section get used in stories in the forums.

It'd be a nice break from the many mindless threads (not saying mindless threads have no place, as they do). I just hope the NS community can be receptive to them being posted by people of all skill levels even if his style isn't the best, or his slide was sketch.

TGR is full of fucking tards man. You've got to be kidding that anyone would think that is a worthwhile ski community. Those fucking losers in there chased all the real skiers away years ago. If you meet up with any of the maggots, they SUCK at skiing. SUCK. I am sure there is more skiing ability on this board than over there. They are a bunch of fucking poseurs.

Wow....lots of imput. Good I guess, just hope I didn't stir up a recurring debate here by mistake... Just got back from 5 days in Jackson this afternoon; skiing was amazing for this time of year, they had what was probably their best powder day of the season this past Thursday into Friday; really good stuff. It was refreshing kind of getting back to the roots of skiing and ski bum culture for a few days; I stayed at the Hostel-X as usual and met up with some old friends there, its cool to see so many amazingly talented, humble low-profile local kids up there who kill it but really are just out there having fun. I'm sure we could all [myself certainly included] take a hint from these guys; sometimes its easy to get carried away in the details and come off as an arrogant newbie, something I guess I inadvertantly did over at TGR. It was just so sweet just headin up to Jackson spontaneously for a few days of the ski bum life; I drove up from my place in CO Tuesday and got in that afternoon, and soon we were watching old JH Air Force footage from the 80's and 90's in the common area at the Hostel with a bunch of old JH Air Force guys and some up-and-coming local rippers who are livin' the dream working ski bum jobs in the village. Everyone was super friendly and laid-back, I met some great people to ski with and explored a lot of backcountry over 3 days safely while havin a badass time. I ended up sittin next to Micah Black and Kina Pickett at the Moose and tradin skiing stories over some beers, they were both real chill, fun dudes and invited me to hang with them next time I was in Jackson since I had come up Solo this time. Apparently talking to some people in Jackson, word on the street is TGR may me going bankrupt/out of business(!?!), probably just a rumor but that would be rather ironic for the whole 'maggot' crowd haha..... Sure Jackson has its share up stuck up 'holier-than-thou' locals and BC snobs, but overall I found [as alwayy] a very welcoming, laid back group that was all about just gettin out and skiing your hardest and havin fun; good to see people still doing this! I like all the input this thread has generated, some good points, I'm takin notes haha... I guess TGR and NS both have their pro's and cons, it seems like a lot of members overlap both forums which makes sense. Anyways; off to Vail/Summit County tomorrow through new years, give me a holler if you'll be in the area and want to ski, I'm down to hit the hill with whoever, as long as you don't actually call yourself a 'maggot' in real life haha... jk...

'Tis The Season To Be Steazin,

Phil.

Haha Wow.......... I guess I really riled some people up over there, though it seems their collective 5-second attention span has allowed the thread to morph into 1 page of on-topic criticism and 5 pages of sophmoric one-liners attacking eachother over trivial crap. Well, anyways I guess my final conclusion is that while there is great stuff and good opportunities that come from both TGR and NS, in the end I am just to lazy and easily offended I guess to sort through all the shit to get to the gold. See, I always though people should behave lile decent human beings to each other, even over the faceless expanse of the internet. I guess this isn't true. Anyways how do you delete your profile over there? Perhaps I'm just technologically retarded but it seems to be rather difficult......

ur so right about jackson hole. i usually make 1 to 3 trips up there each year to ski and it alawys seems like u will meet someone on the chair and they will kinda uf take u under their wings and show u all the sports espically in the backcountry. if ur a harcore skier in jackson hole ur all about skiing
