Seems to me that Militia are out there stirring the pot. They could just sit at home and let this all fade away but no they have to go out with guns look like a white isis and target people thus causing the people they target to get inflamed ever more so. They arent cops and cops shouldnt support untrained citizens to help them by walking around with bear spray and gun.

I think that both rioters and militias are in the wrong. I love the idea of a protest, they have been going on all over the world to make changes in federal and local government with lots of success. When people start rioting and looting I think it doesn’t represent what they are actually pushing to change well. I get that people are fed up and angry but there’s better ways of showing that then destroying property in your own city.

Militias can fuck off though, leave it up to the police and governments the world doesn’t need a bunch of grown men with no expierence in crowd control or what have you patrolling the streets looking for trouble. 2020 has been fucked for sure with everything going on, but I don’t think it’s an issue of who’s is the bigger is problem, I think it’s how does everyone come together and work through these issues and I do have hope that shit will change down the line.

I dont blame the Militia for being in Kenosha. The local cops requested 750 National Guard but the Governor only send 250. If nobody else is going to protect your business, you have every right to defend it yourself.

The problem is the BLM/Antifa group is only going to get more violent and extreme until there is a pushback and more people are going to die. They are already marching through residential neighborhoods and harassing people at restaurants etc. Especially the Antifa in Portland. They are literally in a war of attrition with the cops to drain their budget and the Mayor refuses to get help from the National Guard.

I think his point was that (a lot of) white people are pretty far removed from these issues that people of color are facing and that our communities don't have to deal with worrying about how cops will treat us. And he's not really wrong. The demographics of skiing is predominantly white and middle/upper class. It'd follow suit that a skiing website was the same.

That doesn't make our opinion irrelevant, it just makes it it less likely that we can directly understand and relate to the problems they face.

I mean, yeah the militia did more in the sense that they actually fought the war. However, it was 3 years from the Massacre to Tea Party and then another 2 years till the official start of the Revolutionary War that was interspersed by several different punitive tax acts to punish the colonies (mostly aimed at Boston). Without those two events, those punitive tax acts aren't as likely to come about (IMO).

Most of these conflicts start with protests and riots and then turn to armed conflict, it's never the other way around. I can't think of a single example where people went from armed conflict to protests and riots.

There's a lot of studies out there on socioeconomic, racial, and judicial issues so I'm sure you can find some that support your beliefs just like I can.

Here's one off my first google search-Black women and men and American Indian and Alaska Native women and men are significantly more likely than white women and men to be killed by police. Latino men are also more likely to be killed by police than are white men.

Here is a Harvard study-

On average, there were large racial/ethnic inequities in the rates at which White and Black people were killed during police contact. Across all MSAs, Black people were 3.23 times more likely to be killed compared to White people (95% CI: 2.95, 3.54, p



Edit: Most of the rest of my post is gone (RIP) but there's a huge issue in the amount data reported versus what is studied. Only 40% of all police forces report use-of-force data which means we've got zero idea about over-policing of minorities. I can retype it up if you want when I get back later.

But since you mentioned it, yep I am white of all sorts of European ancestry. I grew up in the suburbs of a middle class town. I went to k-8 in the suburbs and 9-12 in the hood. I had pasty white friends and I also had black friends and hispanic friends and also druggie friends and also friends mixed up in gang activities. My mom is a teacher in the inner city and her kids have terrible home lives. I currently work in a major health care system and see racial disparities every day. I also see plenty of the aftermath of violence within those communities. I have good neighbors who are cops. I know plenty of cops. I also know plenty of douche bag cops too. I have no empathy for violent criminals or thieves.

You're right I've never been affected by police brutality but I've sure as shit witnessed it and seen profiling before. In college if you were out driving after dark, and had any stupid traffic reason to get pulled over, you sure as shit could bet you'd be getting pulled over as a reason for them to say "have you been drinking".

God forbid you had a black kid in your car cuz then you'd be stopped for an hour while they run everyone's IDs for warrants. And they would ask for EVERYONE'S id's. Ever had a cop bust up a college party you were hosting or at? Yeah they're assholes with an agenda in college towns. Don't even think about mentioning your rights cuz you'll be threatened to be arrested. Knew a kid that got tazed running from a party. Also knew a kid who got speared by a cop on his way home from work cuz he was near a party they just broke up and looked like someone who ran away.

Any reason to get pulled over so you can be searched. I've never had my car searched, but I have black coworkers who are good people tell me about all their runins with the cops and all the rediculous stories of their cars being searched on the way home from work for drugs or weapons, only for the cops to turn up empty handed after bringing out 3 squad cars, a dog, and searching for 60min in the middle of winter.

My brother had a coworker at pizza hut who was black and the one day she forgot to put her car topper on the car. They delivered in your stereotypical rich 99.9% white village who look at black people like aliens. She got pulled over 5 times that day because she "looked suspicious".

One time I was downtown Cleveland at closing time for all the bars and they brought vans of cops to control crowds to get them to leave the bars. They were legit pepper spraying whole crowds of black people for not dispersing from the area all the while me and a group of white chicks sat on the curb and watched. At one point a cop went from pepper spraying someone, turned to us and said "have a nice night". da fuq.

Another time in middle school we were running around a neighborhood at night with airsoft guns, some with the orange spray painted black (dumb). Someone called the cops on us. Cop shows up and proceeds to use one of our airsoft guns and shoot mailboxes with it. Tells us to carry on but try to keep it down. You can't sit here and say because you're white you can't see the irony in this example. No chance kids running around a black neighborhood with replica guns are gonna get that same treatment.

Have a friend who's best friend is a cop. But he "hates cops" because of how many bad run ins he's had with them. Luckily his brother is a lawyer so he knows how to tell them off when they try and pull some bullshit fake reason on him for a ticket or search. But yet another example that minorities don't have the luxury of arguing.

I know of plenty of rich white kids or families who get away with literal murder because of connections. Not if you're black in those cities and aren't a superstar athlete.

I just think it’s funny that the most entitled group of white people alive on this planet (skiers, in case that flew over some heads) have such strong opinions on racial justice and rioting when most of them have been impacted by neither- I don’t blame rioters. I’ve been to and seen enough protests in Minneapolis (where I live) that have seen 0 results that I understand why people are rioting- and many people in the city support it despite the consequences and destruction because the people have been going unheard for so long. Bitch about destruction and chaos that’s happening away from you all you want but it took the destruction of my home city to see the first real work towards a solution.

So am I trolling? Naw- I’m fact I seldom do, people just hate my opinions apparently. Keep discussing tho NS- it’s the first step towards change.

My statement had nothing to do with your personal opinion, it had to do with the fact that you think people can't have an opinion on a topic. Anyone can have an opinion on anything, thats why its an opinion.
