it is going to be 18-24" it isnt our first snow storm ever. Yes the pow will be nice ,,but I'm see all over the new how it is going to be one for the history books, which i dont see it happening. It is just going to be another big storm like the ones we get each year and nothing historical about it.

Sparknotes: The media hypes shit up to much.

There's a difference between when major metro areas get pounded and random ass places in the middle of nowhere. That is why this is a dig deal, cities are about to get pounded.

Mostly because Boston is about to get fucking slammed, normally the large storms stay farther North or West.

It snows in Boston every and every year they freak out like this. It is like every summer wipes their minds that winter is something that happens, then oh the leafs are changing how pretty! Then WHAT THE FUCK IS THIS SHIT SNOW! HOW WE WILL EVER LIVE AFTER THIS HUGE AMOUNT OF THIS UNKNOWN WHITE SHIT COMING FROM THE SKY!

The press needs something to talk about.

Its going to snow. It is winter. Lets name another stupid storm. It is going to snow. Lets all freak out...

Only 6 times in Boston's 100 year weather history has it snowed more than 20" in one storm. With forecasts of up to 3 feet in the metro area, they have a perfectly good reason to make a big deal of it.

im not sure if you understand, but the average amount of snow that boston gets per year is 27 inches i think. We will be getting that much snow in 1 storm, there is a perfectly good reason to make a big deal out of it

the avg is

43.7

the the six times boston has gotten more than 20" half of those times have been with in the last 16years, 97, 03, 05 and now 13 that avgs out to once every fours years. Speaking in terms of weather patterns it is NORMAL!

well thats awkward because it said 27 on the news this morning... and it seems to me like your putting in alot of effort for no reason

It almost never snows in Boston itself, the Ocean wrecks it all. I've had 3 foot drifts at my house which is less then 50 miles away and they get 2 inches and some rain.

I live in Boston and we're gonna get up to 3 feet...that's fucking insane. Especially considering the dry spell that the East Coast had last year. It's not like we live out west where you can get 5 feet in a day. Three feet in BOSTON is insanity.

Driving up with my buddy early in the morning tomorrow to try to avoid as much of the storm as possible. Oh, forgot to mention, there is going to be a fuckload of crashes during the storm.

If boston gets 3 feet which might happen that is pretty damn close to their average snow fall per year in about 24 hours... that's why this shit is a big deal

Well, as much of a downer as this may be, its true. I think its mostly the fact that we have been deprived of snow for so long, that even an average one can get us all stoked.

OP, I agree with you. The media hypes some storms unnecessarily. This storm was different. If they hadn't warned us in advance, we would not have been ready for this. In CT, we got anally raped with snow. I woke up to 33" in CT, not the 24 the media was predicting. But thanks to their hype, my family knew to go and get supplies before the storm. If it weren't for that, I'd be sitting at home in the dark with my thumb in my ass starving because there is a travel ban.
