Whats the best ski mountain in the east coast?

umm no...sugarbush wishes it had the woods that stowe has and okemo and killy wish they had the parks that mount snow (last year not included) and waterville/loon have

wachusett is the best for me because its like 30 minutes away if u drive 85 mph on route 2.

mos def. Except when there was 2 feet of fresh, and the chair lift broke all day. That day really sucked haha. Note the use of chairlift, not chairlifts. Magic only uses one haha, i love that place

These are my favorite east coast mountains Depending on what im skiing and what time of year it is.

Been to most notables in east besides sugarloaf.

jay-sick terrain, good snow(snow reports can be a bit suspect though)easy access to bc terrain

-wind up there can suck though

Stowe-great terrain good snow lots of stashes and gnarly bc terrain

youve got to really know your shit since the locals get to the stashes quickly, more hiking in and out for some of the best than other mountains in the east.

Also tourists abound (people on the chin asking where to go, dont be that person)Park is pretty good too

Smuggs- sick woods, good snow, small crowds, long amazing woods heading to the notch road, park is small but fun and has t bar for quick lap time.

Mad river-Super sick on pow days but not as good as often as other mountains

Killy- park good sometimes, huge, some nice terrain,

Cant beat end of year bumps and the atmosphere as the east coast's ski bums converge.

Loon- Long amazing park decent lap time, favorite place to ski park for sure.(havent skied anything else there)

well i just saw killington in movies or pics. i never had been there before. i didn't know that killington was so bad. My bad

big boulder is the best park that i have been to. sickest park ever, i just wish the runs were longer but theres nothing we can do about that. and plus nobody is there so its not crowded at all, but ive never been to any place around the vermont area.

best hands down, for park and all mtn combined, would be jay peak. they dont have much of a park, a few decent jumps, some decent rails/boxes too, but trust me, wen ur there u wont really wanna ski any park. if they have another year next year like they did this past year id deff recommend every1 to take a trip up there. places are sooooo cheap to stay at, every1 is soooo chill. if you dont go during the holidays there wont be any1 there. you'l barely see any1 in the glades. during holidays there are more people, but still very nice. almost always have a good amount of snow, feb-march is usually just amazing. this past year they had 100% trails open in late april wen most mtns were starting to close.

it can get windy up top like some1 else said, but once u get onto the trails its on the other side of where the wind usually comes from so most of the time its not bad/sheltered. and if you go, most people end up glade skiing, or moguls, or some pow if there's been a big storm, so you get warm skiing. it can get reeeeally fuckin cold tho, esp. late in the day wen the sun goes down. besides these few things, which can really happen at any mtn, jay is the shit. everytime ive gone its been the msot fun ive ever had skiing. gets better everytime. they are real chill about "features" on the mtn too. there are some reeeeeally dope skiers there every year, and they dont block any real obsticles maybe besides a cliff thats like 100ft. you wont have a problem finding cliffs like 5-20 ft. higher then that u gotta look but still not hard. out of bounds simply means ski patrol wont go there. they dont care if u do, just wont help you out obviously. also they are pretty chill about maryjane. i dunno what else to say about jay. i deff think its better then stowe, but ill give it to stowe they would be 2nd on my list.

gore mountain, sugarbush, sugarloaf, stowe, mad river glen are also good mtns for terrain. the more northern ones like jay peak and sugarbush get more snow tho so they are better on crappy seasons like last year. if theres a big snowstorm and u feel like being retarted and goin to whiteface instead of somewhere like jay, then its supposed to be nice. but besides then its always windy and icy as fuck.

for park, killy(this past year wasnt so great, been better in the past), mt snow(if they actually open up the big park and dont have 4 yearolds hitting the features, and dont have rollers on the landings at the end of the day), okemo, loon, and waterville valley all have their good seasons, sunday river too.(mighta forgot somewhere else, but those are prolly the main ones)

i havnt been to all these places, but i work at a ski shop and i know a fair bit about most of them. a lot i have been too tho. other places that i know have been mentioned to me before, have on/off seasons, dont know too much about are: belleayre, wachusett, maybe smuggs, straton(supposed to have a nice park, i think it depends on the year tho, more expensive im pretty sure then every mtn ive said), sunday river. again, dont know much about them, ask some1 else, may be worth it, maybe not...

uhh this jay love makes me sooo mad. it is sick but stowe is soo much sicker. if you are gonna go for one pow day go to jay for sure but if your buying a pass get it to stowe

wawa cause i can go there just about five times a week while in school, not to mention its a 20 in drive from my house and park is legit and people are legit well nsers and shit

indeed it is mount snow has gone so far down hill...if the new owners are cool they'll revive it but i am not holding my breath

I can't believe Bellayre even got on this list. It's good for New York skiing, but compared to Vermont mountains its an anthill.

never compare something with 200inches a year inches to baker with 650+, cause despite bakers small size, there's very few things that can compare (though you should know that with a name about the khyber)

Whoa... I said it *reminds* me of Baker, not that it IS Baker. The vibe is similar.. chilled out, lots of glades, lots of hidden terrain. It's the *closest* to the West out East. And it's more like Baker than any other Western mountain I'd say... although perhaps more fair to say in size it's like Cypress (one of 3 local mountains above Vancouver).

As for snow, Jay got like 30+ feet this year, only about 7 feet shy of Whistler's record snowfall. Check this out, their yearly average is 385 inches:

05/06 season was 343 inches. 06/07, a peak year, was 409 inches:

Man, that's the sickest snow out East -- and when other mountains were DRY to the bone. But why say anything? Keep going to wherever else you go so the 'ardcore & can keep Jay.. lol... with its David Lynch cabins and extra-70s hamburgers.

Yah yah, you know the khyber.. right on. Classic.

^^^ I agree. I don't think there's any other mountain on the east coast that gets that much snow. Totally worth the 6 hour drive. It's like that one dude says, "it's orgasmic".

wow someone put belleayre on the list. i go to bellrayre. but belleayre is not the best mountain in the east coast.

you are correct my dear friend...not the best. but i do consider it one of the best. good terrain, good snow. just gotta know where to go mang

okemo is defintely not one of the best mountains. Its packed with tourists and is relatively flat. No trails there are actually difficult. The superpipe though, is amazing. Thats for sure
