Whats the best resort in the east

word, best park i have ever been too. beats Mt snow's park by a mile, when their park was good. and this year it ate mt creek's park, 30x's better than smugg's park....i haven;t bene to many mountains, hunter's park sucked and so didn wyndam's

we were at stowe first week of january so paskiing doesn't suck seeing how boulder had expotentially more hits jibs and jumps and better quality snow - hard to believe but it is true.

This year Loon, and then Waterville held it down for park. Loons park was nuts at times, when BMC comp was. And for Red Bull Schooled, the features were nutsss, and perfect.

I am just saying stowe all around is best. Ya don't hafta attack my name or anything it's mostly kidding anyway. Besides I believe what you say, but just because boulder has more man made snow in early jan. and a better park does not make it better than stowe. Also one resort getting there stuff together down here does not make up for season after season of disappointing snowfall, I'd much rather live next to stowe than jf/bb wouldn't you?

i think sugarbush iz pretty sick, along with stowe and jay peak... but park wise i think like okemo, stratton, and killy are up there

jw, am i the only one who is aware that the snowfields aren't actually above tree line? there was a forest fire on the top of the loaf way back in the day and alpine shrubbery takes ages to grow back...anyone else know this?

that is bull shit. Things grow back faster when there is a fire, you can see the trees get smaller and smaller as you go up the lift, sugarloaf is more than 4,000 ft tall, is the second tallest mountain in the state, and has the most continuous verticle feet in new england.

ya im from maine i know all those fancy stats, still stickin to my story though, things do grow faster after a fire, but it takes tens of years for anything to grow at that elevation. and if you are at the top of timberline near the backside, guess what? there are trees. the whole front face now known as the snowfields was actually the site of a forest fire about 50 yrs ago.

that's just because Stowe doesn't have a lot of snow making and in early January we still hadn't gotten any good snowfall, and I was there later in the season and they had a a crazy amount of hits and jibs, and they have amazing tree skiing when they get snow, like on the Valentines days storm when they got over five feat of snow, it was suppose to be the best skiing they've had up there in years

it might be because whiteface is my home mountian and i wanna defend it. On a powder day whiteface is the mountian to be at. It has the steepest trails on the east and a lot of them too. When the slides open they are the best trails on the east cost by far. I bet meat head would film up there anyday. The head of our parkstaff makes some of the nicest booters i have ever hit (i like the more then loon waterville killington and basically anywhere else on the east) he doesnt make the same stepdown style jump that every other mtn has. The super pipe IS the best on the east exept stratton. After the worldcup snowboaring crew comes in and makes the pipe for the comp, they cut it every other or every night. The only problem with the park there is that the managment wont give them nearly enough money for rails. So whiteface really isnt as much of a joke as you remember it (alot has changed in a year or two)

Loon SUCKS! They have nice features, but lift lines are long and ppl are assholes. For trees/pow, nothing compares to Jay Peak(except maybe Sugarloaf). Watervilles park is tough to beat, and kids there are sicccckk.

Also, Burke mt. in VT is sooo nice for all around skiing (not great park, but getting better; siiick trees though). In my 17 yrs ive never waited in a liftline for more than 30 seconds at burke

yo watch out for big boulder in pa it's blowin up and stay's legit all year because they change the format of one of there 3 parks each week so you don't get stuck with the same boring park for a month or two straight

haha alright well first off none of this is against you just to get that out there, this is simply about the mountain. But on a powder day whiteface is certainly not the place to be, i can think of a number of other mountains that would offer better terrain (jay, stowe, mad river all come to mind). Not to mention more snow, more powder days, and most likely better snow. And yea the slides are sick, and yea they did open for a short time this season, but it's undeniably rare that they do open at all. As for the park, the three times i went this season it was god awful. I'm sure when they are in prime shape the jumps are nice and all, but they seem to lack size and i've never seen them in good shape. I'll give them a good pipe, and trust me i understand the lack of funds from management, i run a park in central new york and i've had the same problems. But that doesn't mean the rails that they do have need to be set up shitty. I don't know, that was probably an unnecessary rant, but i'm bored and whiteface is just not my kinda mountain haha.
