What the heck is so wrong with skiboarders. i mean if it weren't for them free skiing would have never happened. u skiboarders ou there i have respect for you. But i don't see why everyone hates em. and no i am not a skiboarder.

 
Have you seen a skiboarder lately. If not then you dont know what youre talking about. I cant even describe how stupid they look, with their little skis and no poles, but the worst is when you have poles and youre a skiboarder.

Get some real skis.

 
Freeskiing would be doing just as good, if not better without skiboarding. Snowboarding is what brought freeskiing to where it is today. It;s the same culture. Skiboarding did nothing for skiing other then make it worse.

you all have such short memories...I recall being kicked out of terrain parks in the early 90s because I was a skier and not a boarder...ski boards came along and BAM! we could go into terrain parks. Soon people realized that skiing around on 90cm planks sucked for jumping and jibbing...so compainies like LINE abdtapted their skiboards into twin tip skis...

they are but a eveolutiary step in modern freestyle skiing...

so dont hate them...look at them like cavemen or monkeys...toss em a banana and leave em be...they may bite if provoked

 
i saw a fat kid with an even bigger ecko down jacket with fur skiboarding with poles and his leashes dragging behind him in the snow.

just thought id like to throw that out there.

i hate skiboarding not only cause its gay in general, but because everytime I start to explain to someone whos never seen freeskiing, theyre like "ohh you mean those little fun mini skis"

im assuming you mean snowbladers, and not those retro dudes who rip it up on monoskis...

peopple hate them because a) usually the type ofperson who has them is hyperactive, annoying, scrawny and about 12 years old. for all you rehab nerds out there, if skiing is magic cards before it went bad ("visions" was the last good edition in my opinion AHAHAHAHAaaaa) then skiboarding would be pokemon. Or japanese anime.

b) because said hyperactive 12 yearolds are dangerous on the hill. THis is a stereotype, like saying a lot of snowboarders are useless douchebags, and like all stereotypes its got a firm grounding in reality. Thye tend to zip all over the place and cut you off.

c) because they look bad in the park, and think they look good

d) because a girl on snowblades once hit me, and gave me a pretty bad concussion, even though i was wearing a helmet. after that i gave up on helmets, since they obviously dont work.

i have never seen anything cool done on ski boards, but in a way im glad the exist because 2 days on those a couple years ago got me into about 80 days on real skis this year. every ski boarder i see looks like they have to balance to get down the hill, and when they do fall it looks super funny because nothing is sticking out so they just roll for ever.

what so many "newschoolers" forget is that in oder for our sport to survive people NEED to have fun and enjoy it...

ski blading allows a beginner the freedom to enjoy a greater portion of the hill...they are easy to learn and FUN for MOST people...what you view as lame or gay has NOTHING to do with ski blading...it is your own "im too cool" attitude...which is lame and gay...

share the hill, enjoy other people learning your sport and give them advice...not be a hater

 
Look man, i knew this kid who use to skiboard(or snowblades), he thought he was great and me and the other schoolers teased him so much he tryed twins. Now he has been on skis five times and can already switch 540 unaterals. He said "Fuck why did i not try this before, man i will never go back to that shit" Point being then have no need to exsist anymore.

waynewong, you repeatedly keep on hitting this topic right on the nose.

however, because everybody on this site(like waynewong said) has the "im too cool for anything but skiing" attitude, this topic will never produce an agreed upon opinion about skiboarding.. SO, why dont we all just let skiboarders skiboard, and why dont we just keep on skiing? its as simple as that. dont hate on someone for having fun
