What's on your mind - Ladies edition

Anyone have a recommendation on a hooded base layer? Looking for one with no zippers and preferably thumb holes. I see a loose variety out there but curious if anyone is head over heels about one!

Took my new skis out for the first time yesterday and almost ate it just trying to pop a flat ground 180. Apparently I've forgotten how to ski on sharp edges. I think my old park skis are extra rounded since my favorite rail in the park last season was a metal corrugated tube, I loved that tube and the brap noise it made, plus for some reason the corrugation made it the only thing I could slide on my bad side (left foot forward). Looks like I'll have to slowly break in my new edges, and I'll definitely be doing an underfoot detune before I try to slide anything. They finally opened a jump this weekend and it's a large one, glad to work through the butterflys and get some straight airs, felt good.

Lmao my sled wasn’t broken at all, homeboy just didn’t tighten the oil cap all the way. She started right up and I did messed around for an entire night trying to figure out what was wrong. Spoiler: nothing.

Also my roommate’s boyfriend got her a sled (goals) and wants to go to Cooke City. He floated the idea last night, and this morning Hayden said we should go but tbh I don’t want to tandem him around I kind of just want to rip on my own but don’t know how to tell him that since he got excited about it. I need some time to figure it out again since it's been over 6 months since I've been on one.

Thank God it wasn't broken. You're still a really nice friend lol.

Yeaaaaah first and last time I’m letting someone take it out without me there.

Thats my rule if someone needs to borrow my vehicle. I used to drive an F-150 so it was often friends would ask to borrow it to haul something. I said sure....but I drive!

This is the first weekend that my boyfriend and I both don't have to work!!! I'm so stoked. Also my household is finally COVID-free!! All good things.

Did you and your boy break up?

Yeah back in September when I went on that skate tour thru Montana. He couldn't go and got really insecure about it, wanted me to cancel the whole thing.

Like damn, Its not like I'm ever gonna stop disappearing into the mountains to get rad...thats like, what I do. Whatever, I don't need a man's permission to chase my stoke. Still hurting tho, you know how crazy I was about him.

Found another lady my age that wants to learn park. I'm really excited to share the stoke and things I've learned. She even wants to learn rails. Even I didn't want to learn rails when I was starting out, I just wanted to fly through the air on jumps. I only begrudgingly learned to do some easy rails because I got tired of skipping half the features in the park. I have a feeling she's gonna learn fast, she's got the fearless part down at least, trying to get her to buy some armor so she doesn't bust a knee on a failed rail pop.

That's awesome!

How did you find her? Did you just happen to see her in the park?

I met her mountain biking this summer. We still had our women's mountain bike group rides but we were limiting 10 people per group. I kept hoping I'd meet another lady that skis that way. What's crazy to me is the mountain bike ladies are so stoked to learn jumps on a bike. Every time our club has a "learn to jump" clinic it fills up instantly. She was also stoked on learning to jump a bike and I was helping her with that over the summer and sort of segwayed that into talking about how fun jumping on skis is and she was sold. She's also taking a few years off work, has some money saved, doesn't have children, and has lots of time to shred. Her SO is a snowboarder also, so he can hang with my one plank guy as well. She also skateboards and rollerblades and is fearless when it comes to trying action sports. It's pretty amazing to find all of those qualities in another lady over 30.

I've never seen crowds like I saw today. Easily twice as bad as crowded days in previous years. I think it's just cause so many people are working / learning remotely or furloughed from the pandemic so they have a more flexible schedule to go ski. Has anyone else noticed weekday skiing has been way more crowded this season?

Where were you at?

Would it be too barbaric to ski these Stockli Stormrider TT110 in a -> .....192cm.... ??

I've been L O V I N G the Stormrider 88 in 177.

I'm 5'9 170 lbs and really intimidated.

It's so much ski.

Would be swapping my Tyrolia Attack 13 frame bindings onto them.

Moving em from a Fat-ypus E-motion 112 in 179, which was certainly drive-able.

The skis are kind of tricky to get, in any size.

They're like, maniac skis, yet, it seems like the next logical step.

But maybe I'm just whacked.

They're just... so big... and Jesus Christ, crazy titanal fatty charger mofos that very well could devour me for dinner.

Too big????

Yeah, maybe a 183 is manageable (that’s what I like) but a 190 is unnecessary for your height.

How was Brighton today?

So I was stressing super hard about what I was gonna wear to dinner at Deer Valley and went there instead to do some reconnaissance for tonight. I asked my buddy about brighton tho and he said it was a little better cuz they opened another lift.

This guy (some forgettable dude my friend is casually dating) won't stop negging me about how I don't want to ski with him because I'm "scared to ride with him cuz he's gonna smoke me" even though he's literally snowboarded 4 days in his life. He's dead serious and just won't stfu about it.

???????

Day 2 on the slopes and my crazy ex had to show up. Who is off on a Monday? I figured it was a good day to NOT run into him. I have a RO against him and he’s unstable I don’t trust him so I had to leave. Made me really upset and def pissed me off. Ugh!!!!!

I demoed a snogo today, mostly so I could talk shit about them later with some authority, but honestly I can't say anything bad. It was hilariously stupid fun riding what is almost like an old person walker down the mountain. I looked and felt retarded, but had a blast. I highly recommend.

What in the world is a snogo

It's a kind of ski bike but it doesn't have pedals or pegs, it honestly looks kind of retarded. I felt like an idiot on one, but the dumbness is kind of it's charm once you get on one, especially if you have someone else to laugh with you.

Got the covid vaccine yesterday and today I’m feeling like shit lol. My body is achy, and for some reason my boobs are the most sore lol. Honestly this is expected with any vaccine and isn’t a reflection of its safety or anything but damn I’m out for the count lol

Wierd about the achy boobs

Do you know what ingredients in the vaccine that could cause allergic reactions? (I'm allergic to some wierd stuff and am always leery of these things)

I don’t have the list handy but there are fact sheets available online!! I believe they’re on the FDA site or Pfizer directly has them. The one they gave me was called “fact sheets for recipients and caregivers” and it has all the ingredients on it!

My sister got hers yesterday too, she said she just has a sore arm but a couple colleagues of hers are feeling kind of flu like.

See I actually had like no pain when I got it. Seriously it did not hurt at all lol. Not even a pinch. Even today my arm feels fine but my body is just not about it right now lol. I did take a hot shower and had some OJ this AM which helped.

Does anyone else love how strong their legs feel during ski season? I went to costco the other day and parked at the far corner so I could avoid the cluster near the store front. It was cold AF so I decided to jog to the entrance to warm up and I felt like I was jogging on the moon because of how great my legs felt. Mountain biking has nothing on the raw power you get from skiing, even if my cardio does go to shit.

I definitely feel that way after a powder day, my muscles get all twitchy and even walking is hard. I have been lucky enough to ski nearly everyday the last couple weeks, so the strength gains have been good, not much in the way of powder, just groomers and some easy park laps.

Husband is totally freaked out about covid and today after 2 runs declared he's done resort skiing for the year. Our snowpack is shite and shallow which basically means no more skiing for him. So sad, wish I could take all that anxiety away from him. He's the one who made me into a skier in the first place.

Sad panda :(
