What's on your mind - Ladies edition

I just feel like I dont actually see people with super light blond eyebrows that often in real life, but I see them a bunch in kissy kissy love you wife IG posts from the athletes I follow. It feels like every day I'm like damn, her eyebrows are even lighter blonde than the last one. Obviously nothing wrong with having light blonde eyebrows - hell I love those lovey posts and are happy for them. It's just a pattern I cant unsee.

low key scared to listen to any more billie eilish songs because I think I will love them lmfao.

Hahaha there’s hope for my invisible eyebrows!!!!

today has been really fucking hard!! I feel lost and broken and out of place and stupid. also couch surfing is hard. I'm over it. I wish I could see the next chapter of my life and know that everything is going to be okay and that I'm going to be happy again.

I FEEL YOU.

In high school I basically lived at a friends - I hated feeling like a burden and every day I was convinced I'd go home. I didn't and it made me feel worse and worse. To this day, I still feel like I owe them and no longer have any type of relationship with them. Which is shitty but also felt like I was burden so I cut myself off from them.

My whole life is a disaster right now. I can't make sense of it. So I guess you could say I'm super lost too but I haven't fully realized how lost I am. I have nothing to offer you in terms of advice, because if I did, I would absolutely try it myself lol. But I hope things turn around for you. Idk when or how, but I DO know that shit like this takes time and if you give yourself to chance to figure it out, you will.

quit sending me mixed signals. We’re both still on tinder, yet we’re exclusively sleeping with each other and not going on dates with other people. Want the fuck is going on, and why do i need to meet your sisters.

dang, sorry for posting all that junk like a loser. but yes, yesterday was hard and I'm paying for it today...my eyelids are so swollen from crying ugh. and I have a party to go to tonight. any tips to get the swelling down? currently sitting with a frozen ice pop over my eyes. might use some teabags in a bit, too.

I use frozen metal spoons, or put an eye creme/moisturize in the fridge and apply it to my eyelids. After that, I wait again and use frozen spoons. Best of luck!!

If you have cucumbers you could try the spa cucumber slice thing.

When my allergies are raging in the summertime i just grab a bag of frozen veggies to put on my eyes to calm the mad itch and swelling.

I’m going skiing (at a resort!!) on Wednesday with a very cute guy. I’m so nervous I’m going to ski like shit, even though we’ve been touring together for two months now??

Pretty upset that Woodward isn't delivering on its promise of progression for everyone. There are 40ft jumps and then there are 3 foot jumps... Not sure what I'm supposed to learn here. The tiny jumps are too tiny to do anything on, and the 40ft jumps are way outside my comfort zone to spin. Not sure why it's so hard to put some nice 15-20ft jumps up like they have at park city. The jibs are even worse

I know how that feels right now I also have the same thing going on there's currently no in between size jumps.

I spent the whole raining ski day in the park yesterday. There weren't many people there so I felt comfortable to try stuff for the first time this season.

I did finally slide a flat rail 90° yesterday. After a while I tried to slide the unnatural side and that was just not working like my body couldn't translate the motions ti the other side.

If you can come over and jump at breck. Top 3 pack is perfect for dialing in new tricks and because Copper is so hot right now it's like a private terrain park.

Yeah this is 100% my issue.

If there is a park out there with ride on/small hop on features that are longer than 10 feet lmk. For real it’s either an itty bitty ride on feature or giant gap long/linked feature. Neither of which, I enjoy.

There's some in between sized features at Trollgaugen in WI.

Im just not there yet in my skill level so its still the little ones for me

Most of the parks I've been to have been really bad about having a nice linear progression, there are usually really big gaps between the beginner and intermediate and large features. Park City is the only park I've ever been to where I feel like there is really good progression path. All of the jumps only step up in size by 5 feet, so you can find a jump of practically any size you could possibly want. The only problem is they don't build their medium park until Jan. 1st. The large park is the first to be built and that was open on day one, way back on Nov. 22nd. They built the beginner park a couple weeks ago, which is nice I can still practice some stuff there, but the medium park is more where I belong and it only just opened. I am missing out on over a months worth of progression versus the people that can ride large features. But at least I do have the features I want, even if I have a limited window in which to ride them (Park City has a hard close beginning of April, no matter how much snow they have and they usually still have plenty).

I really thought Woodward would be different since they explicitly say they care about "progression for everyone" those are the words they use, yet they don't have a decent line of small/medium features at all. Maybe they are still to come, and they are last priority in the same way that they are at Park City, but that still kind of sucks. It just feels a bit like gatekeeping to always prioritize the smaller features last, it certainly isn't helping people to get into park skiing, and I don't understand the logic behind it.

Thats lame. How do they expect people to progress if they don't have the proper stuff out there?

Where I ski they really like their rails. Not so much options for jumps. It takes awhile for them to get an inbetween jump or two up. I like jumping.

Curse of the midwest. We have to rely on snowmaking to get a decent start to the season.

I fell on rail yesterday and put a hole in my brand new goretex pants, at least I didn't break my phone. I also edged over a large rock on my new skis second day out, edge looks a bit haggard now. This is why I only buy stuff on sale, ski gear just gets wrecked so fast.

I've also been thinking about how weird it is that to the normal people in my life I'm this extreme sport adrenaline junkie doing crazy stunts, yet to newschoolers I'm just some pansy jerry in the park that can barely throw a 3 on a medium jump. Such a strange identity crisis to have.

They sell patch kits for goretex, super easy to use, works well, minimally noticable. I use it all the time.

Yep all my stuff was purchased on sale or used. Although my boots were brand new when I bought them. My skis were demos so it doesn't hurt my soul anytime I get a new scratch, gouge or chunk taken out of them.

I had a close call with the phone a couple weeks ago. I moved it to a different pocket due to the bad luck I was having that day.

That is indeed a strange crisis. I was thinking something similar until I tried a new flat rail today in the beginner park and was able to stay on it and come off it forward or switch on command. I'm thinking hey I'm finally starting to get some progress here...its about time! But of course compared to the others effortlessly cruising around, still a Noob.

Not thread worthy but if you typically set your dins at 6.5(and if you really wanna crank them say an 8-9). Why would you ever need more than an 11-13 binding? I know durability can be an issue but the release point should be the same for an 11 binding set at 8 and an 18 binding set at 8. As long as you’re not maxing them out I don’t see why people spend boocoos of money on stuff they don’t need.

Tbh I’m just gonna buy an attack 11 because even if I crank my dins(for my standards) I’m not maxing it out and save money lol

I always ride an 8-9 din (mostly because my feet are tiny), and for whatever reason I have found a difference in retention between bindings that only go to 11 versus bindings that go to 13 or 14. Even with well reputed bindings. For example I had some look pivot 11's and some look pivot 14's and I had to stop riding the 11's because I kept pre-releasing even at the same din setting on both, but I had no issues with the 14's. I have tyrolia attack 13's that work just fine set to 8.5, but I've never tried the 11's, and I've never had any issues with marker griffon 13's. I also had issues with STH 13's but not STH 16's. So yeah in theory it shouldn't matter, but in practice it does seem to matter. Not to the point where I need to get 18 din binding, but enough that I avoid bindings that only go to 11.

There are a lot of factors to consider here though, if you have a small foot the bindings will have trouble keeping a hold of it. If you ride a stiffer tight fitting boot you'll be able to more easily leverage extra force into the binding. Longer heavier skis will also need a bit more retention in my experience. And then of course your own weight and strength. It could be you'll be fine with an 11 din binding, especially since you normally ride a 6.5, but there definitely is a difference in retention versus higher din bindings.

I feel like could puke. I can’t get into the IRS database to find my old tax returns for FAFSA and there’s almost no way to validate my financial existence because I don’t have loans/credit cards. I have literally no idea what to do and I’m screwed.

I feel this, I'm 5'9ish and ski at 23.5 boot. Because of my small feet I ski my dins at 11. Just as with all guages you don't want to be on either end of the din range, somewhere in the he middle is $$$.

Are you able to talk to your uni’s finical aid? Maybe they could you navigate it?

Are there any accepted forms to show financial responsibility like electric bills, car payments, rent payments?

We found someone out the sidecountry gate that managed to completely detach the tip of his index finger on his FKS bindings. His girlfriend had skied off without him, and his other ski was missing higher up in the bowl. He really wanted ski patrol (not sure they would come out one of the gates), but we managed to convince him to just ski to the base on his single ski. Beware your pivot style bindings folks.

Gross! What was he doing with his finger in his bindings?

Looked like he had taken a tumble and ejected from both skis, but he only had the one ski with him at the bottom. I think when he tried to put his heelpiece back down he somehow got his finger in there. Definitely not a good day for him, he was pretty freaked out yelling that he had a serious injury, I thought maybe he'd broken his shoulder or something since he was standing up just fine.

That’s crazy! My pivots don’t snap back like typical bindings do, they move super smooth, if that makes sense. However trying to snap them in, pretty violent... I got my finger snapped on and it hurt like a mother fucker.

just signed a lease for a new house! looking forward to moving to a new spot and starting a new chapter of life! good things are coming.

I took the time to complain to guest services yesterday at woodward about the lack of progression features and got a lot of defensive excuse making. Excuses include "We've gotten 4 feet of snow every day so we can't keep up" --Uh, I wish this were true-- "We've only been open 1 month" --Yeah that's why I waited to complain until now, you're at low elevation the snow is only going to be around for 4 months max-- "Park crew is working really hard every day" --Yeah I see them out there building X-games style features, but nothing for the rest of us-- "We need to get the large features up for the USASA competition" --Okay I get this, but don't advertise yourself as a place for everyone to progress-- "There are small features available" --There are not top to bottom small features, there are two nubs at the top (basically rail wedges without rails) along side two insanely rusty and verifiably sticky 4ft long ride on flat bars and that's it, so you get 2 hits per lap and then have to pretend like that will prepare you for hitting at 35 ft step down jump (not even a nice friendly step up or step over) next and rails that are all taller than I am-- "I'm not the one in charge of the snow features that's some guy named Benny and he's currently very busy." --Finally passing the buck--

If anyone is looking for a cheap but very challenging balance trainer sierra trading post has the m-board for 25 dollars. I remember when this thing came out it, it looked really cool but it was $150 so I never got one even though they had them at my local ski/snowboard shop. It's way more challenging than some of the other balance trainers I've used since you tilt on 2 axis instead of one like with an indo board (I own a knock off indo board). https://www.sierra.com/modern-movement-m-board-11-dynamic-balance-trainer~p~863ru/ It's still over 100 dollars if you buy it from amazon https://www.amazon.com/Modern-Movement-M-Board-Dynamic-Balance/dp/B00PN0SOPA?ref_=ast_bbp_dp

OH BOY. This morning I hit my boyfriend with the ol "Are you lying to me?"

AND. IT. WORKED.

I asked him if he was up all night and he said nah I just woke up early (who the fuck willing wakes up at 5:30am on a saturday) so I said "Are you lying to me?" and he straight up admitted it.

I am going to use this more often.

I bawled my eyes out watching Boy Meets World. So I watched Girl Meets World (well only the episodes with Eric, Shawn, Feeny, etc.) to see that they all ended up okay.

Well I got to the end today and they are doing wonderful and I am still here bawling my eyes out over FICTIONAL CHARACTERS.

I am a fucking baby.
