I really want some blends but I’m 5’2 (looking for something around 158) and they start a little tall. It’s hard to find Women’s skis that aren’t all mountain or pretty stiff. And all the super buttery men’s skis (Vishnus, blends, all plays) seem to start tall. I raced in high school and I’m kinda over long and heavy skis. I’m not all that worried about stability I just want a fun ski. Currently riding on some old line shadow 135s that I’ve since I was like 12 lol foam core is shottt

If you haven't pickes up new skis yet---While All Plays may not be your size, it sounds silly but the new "kids" specific ski The Max may have a better size for you. My bf works customer service for them, check out their email/live chat and he could probably help ya find something! (I'm absolutely stoked on all 3 pairs of Js I've had)

OH MY GOSH CHILDHOOD DREAMS COMING TRUUUUE

Funny story.

My dad called me at work letting me know I got a package. I work closish to their house so I picked it up on my way home. I was kind of confused because I didn't order anything but thought it might be a gift from the gym for my birthday or something.

Anyways, I get home to my apartment and open it in... the first thing I see is a slip from amazon saying "Enjoy your gift!" I open up the box inside and it's a FUCKING DILDO LOL.

So I call my boyfriend (I assume he bought it?) and he has nooo clue what I am talking about. So at this point this is either hilarious or extremely creepy, but nothing in between the two. I notice on the enjoy your slip paper that it says "from (my name)" so I check my amazon account and it was purchased using a gift card that my boyfriend and I received from his family. He doesn't remember buying this which I think may have been a product of a black out.

So basically, my drunk boyfriend bought me a high tech dildo... OR I have a super creepy stalker. I prefer to believe in option 1.

I need help not stepping up on to rails. I can’t keep my feet together when I do a down rail even tho I am popping enough to clear it. Any tips?

Whats on my mind is the sadness that our ski days are numbered here in the midwest. Maybe a week or two left. Its going to get up to the 50s by the end of the week. I'm looking forward to warmth and more sunshine but at the same time I'm bummed that the season is almost done and I gotta find something else to obsess over during my free time.

Tonight I learned that iphones delete text messages after a year so all of my text messages between my brother and I are gone. I miss him.

It's crazy how much the weather can effect your mood. It's been sunny and warm the last few days after about a month of overcast and I find myself irrationally happy all of the sudden. I'm reminded why I can't ever move back home to Seattle, seasonal affective disorder is real and it's terrible.

I wish I was good enough to even hit urban style rails. I can only hit ride on fat tubes and boxes. You're killing it as far as I'm concerned. Post another video of your progress and please do share tips for the rest of us.

Ayeee - I've been there. Try to take it ALOT slower coming up to the rail. Really focus on a strong upwards pop rather than letting the lip send you further down onto the rail. Esp since it's a down rail, you don't need that speed at all right now.

Hope that makes sense!

I came out west (currently in co) with my converted van for a winter "vacation" and at this point I really can't see myself being happy if I go back to boring old Massachusetts. Everything is amazing out here and having this much public land everywhere?? Fantastic.

Helpful. Thank you. I also jammed my shins into the fronts for my boots. Just a tip for anyone learning urban/down features.

Just send it. Falling is not as scary as it seems. And lean into the downhill foot on rails when going sideways. Both of these tricks I just learned today and this is my first year skiing so if I can do it so can you! Also don’t be afraid to post progress.

Wow, I think you've been lucky with your falls. I seem to have catastrophic rail failures where my entire leg turns black for over a month and then I stop trying to do rails for awhile. I have way better body armor this season though, and have been just going for it and it's been okay, making some slow progress. I attempted to street style onto a long capped tube today (those things scare me because the ends are sharp, and I know from experience how much it sucks to fall on the end of one). At one point the slush got a bit deeper and I went to pop, went no where cause the slush soaked my pop, and then nailed my ski tip on the end cap and super man tacoed the rail. Wish I had it on video. My knee slammed into the rail first and then I just sort of bear hugged it after that, it was fine because my knee pads are burly. I don't know how anyone survives learning rails without armor. I'm getting closer though, once I nail a decent slide I'll try and post it. I know my biggest problem is commitment, but I also know some of my worst slams have happened when was fully committed. Amazing job for your first season.

I just let my body go limp and hope for the best ?? I broke some ribs about two weeks ago because I tried to get up from a rail fall. But that’s about it. I fall wayyy to much tho

Oh man, I've heard broken ribs are terrible, heal up fast. I'm too old to think I have any sort of career hopes in skiing so I generally just try to keep things mellow and progress slow. Be careful out there, unless you're looking to make a career out of skiing it's not always worth it to go so hard you break yourself off. I was just listening to Jen Hudak talk at a women's action sport event last spring about how she's looking at a total knee replacement soon on top of all the other injuries she's sustained and she's not even 35. She seemed pretty bummed about not being able to ski anymore without extreme pain, although she's enjoying mountain biking since the bike is easier on her joints. At least she had a good career for awhile, but it sucks the high price she paid for it. To me, I don't know if I would think it was worth it, to have lifelong pain, but I guess that's why I'm not a competitor. My point is stay safe out there, and look out for future you.

People are very creative in thinking about things that could go wrong. You should be more creative when thinking about tricks you land. And what I have learned: The longer you do not jump on urban rails, the bigger become your fear.

I don't know if I'll get a chance to do better than this since this weekend is closing weekend. So here is one of my better failed attempts to street style on. This is the friendliest street style feature, my other options are a cannon tube, or a flat down tube that is notoriously sticky. I know I just need to commit to getting a good pedal/scissor but I chicken out once I get up there.

The trick is: 1. Comitment. If you are scared you dont jump with both feets, you try to step seperately (video with the flatdownflatdown tube) 2. Look to the end of the obstacle. You always slide to the direction where u are looking to. If you jump on it and you look on the middle of the rail or the beginning, you will never slide to the end. Start to look at the end of the obstacle if you are on the kicker.

Thats the tricks that ive learned in the past 2 months and they are always working for me.

Come on more parallel. If you come into the feature at an angle, the chances are you’re going to come off the other side.

How it should look. What you’re prolly doing

Rail> | Rail > |

You > | You > \

Also, side note.... anyone at copper mtn this week?

Yeah, a guy told me that the tips have to target to the end of the obstacle.

Thanks for all the tips, I appreciate any and all advice. I wanted to give it another try today, but holy crap the groomer was crazy deep and loose and I ended up biffing it hard on a jump and then heading home early. Even the good park skiers were crashing left and right, so I should've stopped trying to spin the jumps since the ramps and landings were just wavy mashed potato mush. Now my whole right arm is sore cause it got whipped weird when I tomahawked down the landing. Hopefully I can get some more tries in this weekend.

Hmmm... I starded to ski 1,5 year ago, now I dont struggle with the most stuff... but a long time I was really scared about doing rail stuff of if I had to jump 'high' on obstacles. Take your time. If the fear is broken everything is easy...

Anyway... tgif... tomorrow I'm going to go to innsbruck and next weekend to laax - switzerland. I'm so fucking excited..

Can't wait to get a 4am call asking for a ride home...even after saying I wasn't doing it anymore.

There is still a chance that I won't get that call, but it's getting late and it's usually a you get home at 11pm or 4am kind of thing. Nothing in between.

So now I can't sleep because I'm worried that if I wake up at 4, I will be extra tired at 6. But since it is 12:30, I'm going to be tired no matter what. But if I don't sleep, I don't have to wake up but I'll feel super bad all day tomorrow. Or I sleep a little bit, have to wake up(ugh) and feel just bad instead of super bad. Decisions.

Is this about your boyfriend? :/

I know it's blasphemy but I'm pretty much over skiing at this point. I don't have access to a park, and it's been 60 degrees on mountain, so the snow is crazy glue, cream cheese, peanut butter, thick, slow AF, gnar. You can get some runs in for like the first hour of open before it turns to soup. I've been spending more time on the snowboard at the beginner lift though and it's fun. I got new burton lexa bindings and they make a world of difference compared to the salomon bindings I was using, maxed out the forward lean and now I finally can get some good heelside edge pressure.

Extremely wicked was a good film, I liked it. Didn’t really show any murders and focused on the court case instead.

Also Zach Effort is hot so there’s that...

I just watched this last night!! That movie is based on the ex girlfriend’s point of view. I thought it was really well done. And I agree, he’s not hard to look at EVEN as a serial killer. Lmao.

Mount Bachelor is open until May 25th. Couldn’t be happier about that. If you find yourself in hood or bend area HMU to ride! Still got a few week yeeeeew. Ig: jefferner_

I decided to mountain bike instead of ski today. There is so much snow in the mountains right now, last season I didn't have to make a choice since the snow was gone by now. Oh well, looks I'll be swapping between the two for a month or so until the snow runs out. I can only ski so much mashed potatoes.

I’m attending a lecture for fun, by myself. I’m a lil anxious (not sure why) but this is going to be fun and I know I’ll be glad I went. I just have to clam down enough to stay for it.
