I just moved to a new place, new hill, new team. I'm on a trip with said new team to get some early season skiing in. I don't know if it's being new or something, but the girls avoid me like I have a disease or something. I'm a pretty forward, out there person; some might say loud... but I'm a nice gal seriously, and way fun. I've been alone in my hotel room for three hours (we aren't skiing today) doing homework and NSing because what the fuck else is there to do when nobody tells you where they're going and what they're doing. My boyfriend and best friends are 700 miles away and in school right now, and although I'd usually talk to the mom on this one, she's currently being a cross country traveler and I don't want to bug her. So, here I am ladies. What should I do?? I'm torn between staying quiet and letting them come to me so as not to come off as "annoying" or just like putting myself out there but risk getting fucked over for the season if they judge me too quick and decide they don't like me. Obviously new to this friend making shit lol.

(if you're in an area that you can), be confident in your own decisions and be yourself. Make an effort to be friendly but don't suck up to them, girls can be super stand offish, (and that's lame, but I'm guilty of it myself) don't wait for them to give you some nod of approval, just do what makes you happy! I bet they'll come around.

I think you should put yourself out there and approach them yourself, it sounds like they aren't going to be the ones to initiate something. Making new friends is hard. Best of luck!

yeah totally the high school aspect is gonna be a big factor in this. girls suck, thats all there really is to it, and especially when they're in such a competitive high school setting. It's set up for drama. Good luck tho!

My friend brought me to a party with her, as she only knew the guy hosting the party. She then spent the entire party (and I mean the entire party) asking me what to text her boyfriend and texting her boyfriend. This party was sick, had a huge room with a DJ, smoke machines and awesome music. She was even texting him on the dance floor. In the end I made new friends and stayed for another two hours after she left and had a great time. But why even bring me in the first place if all she was going to do was text?

Winter is seriously never going to come. Starting to look like my hill won't be able to open to january with these warms temps, its literally in the 50's everyday. Sad that Its taking so long, but super pumped about my decision to make 2 trips out to summit county this year. come on January 12th!!!

Drove 8 hours to ski 20 trails (4 each way) and found a great deal on Marker F12s at the mountains local shop and they mounted them on the spot.

Might be Moving to Bend, my sister is a shedevil, my boyfriend and I are going to have to move to different places, I drank way too much coffee today, I can't wait to not speak to my sister for another 2 years, my car needs an oil change, I have two job offers for the winter and I can't make everyone happy and its stressing me out, my sister is a bitch, I only have a week before all the forest service fire jobs in the PNW close, I made friends with a goat, I miss my dog, and I only have one more day till I go back to Colorado. I have a lot on my mind I guess.

I've had a bunch of people ask me lately how a little girl like me gets a job in lift maintenance. I'm like dude, being a chick has absolutely nothing to do with it. I got the job because of my work ethic, lift experience, connections in the department and stellar references. They always seem surprised that i'm ok with being a grease monkey. Idk its just kind of annoying being asked all the time about my job in a way that concerns my gender.

PNW has been getting blasted with storms the last couple of weeks. Another one on the way for this Friday too. Feels a lot better than all of last season already.
I'm definitely feeling the leg pain. Those early season pow days are rough, it always makes me think of Futurama: "The spirit is willing, but the flesh is spongy and bruised."
