are surface skis any good?

im sure theyre dope and all... im almost due for a new park stick, they hold up?

ill go check the site, get the info, just want to know the real deal.

i have seen blake nyman and ian wade absolutely destroy skis ian was in new zealand all summer doing nothing but rails and rocks and his are in really really good shape... blake as well has been on a pair all summer till now and they are in good repair! the construction is sooooo good they are super super fun skis! i believe seanpistol had some shop techs compare his to the likes of volkl... you really cant go wrong man plus you will supporting the most unique company in skiing.....

Ive ridden armadas for 4 years and since theyre makin it happen now on thier own, I feel the need to show my support elsewhere. Im not feeling volkl at all, but i know thats a good comparison. best reply ever bro!
 
go look around the website and their blogspot i think the more you read the more you will never want to support another company!! and nobody will ever tell you that volkl makes a bad quality ski...

IM not a volkl fan at all. im sure they make sickter skis.. well i know they hold up, but i think they feel like im riding planks. no dice.

sorry for not being clear they are only being compared to volkl quality wise.. they are designed tip to tail topsheet to base edge to edge by one of the best product designers in the biz they ski amazing and i havent had that much fun on skis since my first pair of surface shred sticks..they definately do not feel like planks! really really light weight lots of pop really fun sidecut and good edgehold perfect one ski quiver...

^are you some sort of rep? you obviously have so assiociation or afilliation with surface, just wondered what it was.

but yes, i agree. only had a chance to ride my friends, i dont own any, but they rode really, really well. cant comment of durabilitiy and everything, cause hey, i dont own a pair, but as far as i know my buddy loves them, and they havent broken yet...
 
some of my good friends are deeply involved with the company or ride for them...i do not ride for nor collect a paycheck from surface all i get out of pushing them is seeing a company who is trying to give skiers another choice and open up the minds of skiers alike to fresh ideas and concepts grow.. i just want to see more in skiing than the thug on armadas or gangsters on ninthwrds or chargers on k2 and everything inbetween!

skiing should be more like skateboarding or snowboarding or any other "action" sport in wich there are many different styles and ways of going about it all in wich are accepted..

completely. i just wondered, it wasnt negative at all. i happen to agree with most of what you said, and the stuff i dont, i cant comment on because i have no experience with the durability, ect.

If a company strikes you like that, theres something there.
 
i took a run on my friend's today and from that one run i was impressed. i think they were the watch lifes? if those are the park ones...the flex was pretty dope. i enjoyed that run.
 
they seem to be striking something big in a lot of people not just me! and there definately is something there....you will not be disapointed
 
stowebum hav you seen what people are calling next years watch lifes? if so is that a legit picture. those look sick as fuck. after skiing my fujatives for 10 days, the camber is completely gone. next year i think i'm going with some surfaces.
 
im ordering a pair of watch lifes tomorrow, once i get my christmas money, but im still unsure about the size...im going to start skiing again after a 5 year vaction i took to snowboard...im 5 11 and weigh 154...anyone have any advice for me before i make my purchase...

I must admit, when I first heard of them I was skeptical and was expecting some gay company like Liberty, but after going to their website and seeing how gracefully artfull their entire company image is, I was blown away. I definately hope this company stays around, I would buy a pair if I had money.
 
its definetly super nice and refreshing and different. plus there stuff is high qual shit. i just got there beanie and itz sooooo nice, ive heard good stuff about there skis to and ill find out soon.

Thanks for all the help, this is the first time anyone has had anything nice to say about anything. If one simple company can make that anomaly appear on NS, then they are for sure worth checking out on that simple fact. I ride ar5's and think they kick ass... what are the differences?

is there a nice big edge? lotsa lasting pop? you know.. the fun stuff and all that jazz!?

Hmm, skis sort of seem liek a personal thing for me. I dunno though. And the Watch Life's intrigue me, I've only heard good things about them. And next year i'll be looking for a new pair of non-pow skis. Maybe I'll look into them.

Theyre skis are gettin better. Ive only heard the stories about them breaking. The people I know that ride them love them.

I just kinda think that theyre the ones out there doin it... 9, arm, liberty, surface, etc, not you, so who are you or anybody for that matter to call them out?

If you think you can do it better... do it.

The big companies dont suck either, not because they make bad skis, rossi and k2 make wakid skis, but which of the 2 is helping our sport? innovating and pushing and making sure we have alot of ideas?

what i meant was that if youre not supporting the people who are trying to make a change, youre an asshole and you should quit skiing and go hang out with your boyfreind.

is it so hard to be able to handel an adult conversation without the imaturity or telling people what to do, it funny how people cant have there own opinions, ideas, and images on here without getting picked apart. some of those specific kids should listen to some words of wisom by a mr. tony b. on the interview page
 
Back to the topic at hand: Surface Skis...

I got my Watch Life's a week or so ago and these things are sick, as good construction as anyone else. They are a ripping "everyday" ski - I bought them because they were something fresh, another option for us to look at...that's all.

I think there is some super bad close mindedness going on here. Take the new brands for what they have to offer and if you don't like it, don't buy it. Simple as that.

But I will say, I think skiing needed some new brands like Surface & Armada...it was pretty stagnant.

surface is like a big group of friend you see other kids on the hill with you immediately hi five shoot the breeze the people stoked on surface are generally just stoked on life and skiing....
