well, I've played both for an equal amount of time. I was able to make the team at a small college in baseball, had to quit because I wanted to get on with school at a real college. And golf, well I think golf is definitely harder, probably just cause I missed state my senior year of high school by 1 stroke.

yea golf is way harder to learn. All those things you said like timing, hand eye coordination, intelligence, and the swing mechanics are so fucking ridiculous its so hard to have a good swing.

Golf is almost all put on you, there's no one else to help you but yourself. With baseball you have a whole team so if you suck, then your team can compinsate for how much you blow at the game. I'd say golf is harder.

i think baseball is harder. the swing for golf is more compicated but there are more aspects to baseball. you have to have good eyes to track the ball, good timing, there is fielding and base running, pitching.

i played baseball for 11 years and i think golf is way harder. There are so many things that can go wrong in your swing. Although alot of things can go wrong catching fly balls in the outfield.

It's not really comparable. Your abilities in baseball is relative to the people you are playing with and against. In golf you don't have to be better against lefties or harder pitchers.

I know what I was trying to say now. In golf it doesn't matter who you're playing against, you're still going to shoot an 88 if you're playing against Tiger Woods. In baseball you can hit every ball out of the park if I was pitching, but you're gonna strike out every time you go up against Pedro Martinez. You're abilities are relative to your opponents abilities. That is why you can't compare them.

golf is harder but the mechanics of baseball are more difficult, like rebel said, deciding who to have hit when, what pitches what innings etc.

What people don't often understand is that the swing mechanics of golf and baseball are entirely different.

I played baseball and still play golf, and I think it is harder to be a very good golfer than a very good baseball player. The mechanics of a golf swing can always be worked on. And besides, do pro baseball players have to relearn mechanics of their swings? Not to the extent of a golf pro. Hell, I'm a 2 handicap and I get the shanks once a year sometimes.

While golf is a harder sport mechanically, it is less physically challenging. But it is more difficult to be considered a great golfer.

On the other hand, you can play golf almost your entire life. It is hard to say the same about baseball.

Spin, that is management, not mechanics. And also, course management can be just as challenging as baseball management.

Both sports have that reoccuring theme of hinesight bias: 'Oh damn, I knew that was the wrong pitch/club!'

Stef, I can't tell if you're joking. The key to consistencey in pool is to keep playing. I used to play a lot, and was never really great at it, but I have beaten some really good pool players. I never really thought of it as really hard to learn. I suck super donkey cock now though, 'cause I haven't played in years.

it depends there are some 6 year olds who can golf like none other, then their are some old dudes like my dad who have been playinge for 20 years and are still awful

 
It's easier for kids to learn. I beleive it's called elasticity. The more you learn the easier it is for your brain to keep learning. Kids are constantly learning so due to elasticity of the brain, any new information they receive is easier for the brain to process, therefore making learning easier. Am I making any sense?

no jay i wasnt joking, it seriously is in my own opinion the hardest recreational activity out there, theres so much to learn, even the best pool player in the world still learns new shit, its never ending man, so many angles, different spins and how to control the cueball, its amazing

Pool is tough to learn english and stuff. A lot of the time I get the cue to go exactly where I want it to go, but I lose my shot because I don't sink the ball. I find golf much harder though, 'cause I've been learning (teaching myself on an occasional basis) for 2-3 years, and I SUCK. Like I probably miss the ball more than I hit it. Pool I taught myself and eventually got pretty good at it (although I was a pretty streaky player). It is tough, but in my opinion, not as tough as golf.

this is redicoulous...... its def. baseball, were nto talken about going pro here were talken average playing skill. my firend made the post and 90% of our friends plays both sports and think its harder to be average at baseball than golf beacause baseball is more phiscly demanding you dont just come into the sport hitten basehits or feilding ground balls and making the play it take time and practice and mad skill

the swing in golf is much much more difficult, but then again it is a stationary object that you are trying to hit. plus, hitting isn't the only thing in baseball. too different to compare.

 
golf is definatly the hardest sport ive come accorss so far, the thing about it is if you have one small problem it will completely fuck with your whole game, unlike in skiing you can hide your inefficiencies, one swing of a golf club will make them all appear instantly... as for baseball its more boring to watch, golf looks like fucking hockey or the superbowl compared to baseball... which is still hard but just doesnt compare.
