Whats good in tahoe

5 -6 storms a year...maybe

but they are STORM cycles and our "storms" last 5-10 days and dump 6--120 inches

so yeah its like only 5 storms a year bro...I guess my 60 powder days last year were a "fluke" or the year before or the year before or the year before and oh don't forget 98-99 when it snowed 800+inches and we skied until June 20th at alpine or 96-97 when it snowed every day for a month straight

i just want to ski something with some real vert and some steeps, if there is powder great (i am sure i will be able to find some somewhere) and if not its still gonna be better than the man made ice i have skied on in michigan since i started skiing 14 years ago. The only place outside of michy i have skied is killington early season during a shitty winter, once!

I lived in Tahoe the winter of 04. I know what the weather is like there. We only had four storms that year. Yeah they are big and usually last 4-6 days but that still doesn't ensure skiing powder.

Man, you must have been at Northstar, cause at Alpine it was dumping that year. I've lived in tahoe 10 years and have never had less than 25-30 pow days.

I was split between the two. I skied Alpine on powder days and after Northstar closed and I skied Northstar when it was sunny or when Alpine was on wind hold which unfortunately was a lot.

Bump... so how the conditions out there so far? About a month til I head out there for a week. any more advice on what resorts to hit, fun night life things, other info?
