So once nEw wAvE runs it's course and everyone remembers that shuffling out of landings isn't cool, what comes next?

damn almost as if park skiing is about creativity and doing unique things instead of catering to what other dipshits think is cool or not

I honestly thought the future of skiing would be Vishnus and striped pants from thrift stores. However, there is still time for this to happen.

What if after new wave everybody starts snowboarding. Maybe the snowboard pioneers were actually ancient park skiers and they already reached new wave decades ago so they started snowboarding in order to create the new stream.

You’d have to pry my planks from my cold dead hands ?

serious response:

I've been seeing a big push towards cambered skis, clean landings, and long poles. "Loose but lit" is fading out. People are still going to do weird new wave style tricks, but there will be more emphasis on execution. I also foresee a blending of the touring and street skiing communities, basically people bringing the DIY and non-pretentious vibe and weird tricks to the backcountry. Baggy pants are back but I doubt the gigantic parachute pants trend will last more than a couple seasons.

If it's anything like music, New Wave turns into electronica and post-punk/ indie rock so I'd say soon we'll be seeing big neon outerwear with flashy strange shaped skis and tons of random accessories. Weird grabs and flips will be the norm on jumps and rails alike.

idk about park but swerve big mountain will defintiely be a thing in years to come. FWT 2023 is gonna be a bunch of dudes in thrift store kits doing butters off 40 ft cliffs.

One could say they're making the whole mountain their playground.
