whats a good mp3 player?

Id look at the creative Zen Micro theyre the same price as the ipod mini (249$US), they hold 2500 songs and they have an FM Radio. They look sick too.

there are about 200 different players out. the obvious chouice is the ipod, but it's over priced. look around on amazon.com and find one you like.

i have one of the new ipods a 40 gb one and its really cool and i like it except the battery starts out at 12 hours life but after a couple months itll last like 3 hours! it pisses me off realy bad i dont know if its just mine or its like that for all of them. my friend is looking at one of those zens that a guy posted earlier and they look cool except they dont hold as much as a lot of ipods do.

 
ipod will send you a new one if the batt life is to half of what it was when it was new as long as it is within the first year^

the Rio Carbon is by far the best if your talkin mini hard drive players. for the 20 gig+ ones, depending on what you want, theya re all aobut equal although the Ipod is still the slimmest of them all. the Karma is fatter but shorter , and the zen touch is about in the middle. the zen has the best battery life, the karma is in the middle and the ipod has the worst batt life.

just a few things to consider..

if you're going to be riding with your player i'd go for a smaller one. i just received an ipod (20GB) as a gift and its pretty big compared to my rio nitrus (1.5GB). i'd go with one of the smaller rio players, they're cheaper and the batteries work just as well as an ipod if not better and 1.5GB or 5GB is more than enough riding music.

also the rio karma is the only mp3 player that plays mp3s without gaps inbetween songs, it fades into the next track.

I wouldn't even know what to do with 20 or 40 gb of space for music.

If I had an Ipod I'd probably just end up using it as a back up hardrive.

^same here....i have one of those rio's, it's really small and it holds 1.5 gigs, which is like 20 cds....perfect for me but i don't know what you're looking for. it also just has a charger like a cell phone, it doesn't use actual batteries

I have an iRiver iHp-120(20 gb), and it is really good. It was $300, and has tons of good stuff on it. FM radio, built in micorophone, external microphone. It also handles more encoding options than Ipod. So you can encode in better, smaller formats, which means more songs.

Don't be a sheep and follow the herd. Ipods are great, but overrated.

i love my ipod, i haven't skiied with it, but it holds all the music you'll ever need. its stupid to buy something small and then have to go to the computer and change stuff to make room for new stuff. Ebay's got some good deals, or just buy it new.

Go with the zen micro its amazing. Its basically an i pod mini only better. Its got fm radio with radio recording which is awesome so usefull. Its got another gig of memory over the i pod mini and just as small. Its buttons are great and the layout is great. I am so happy with it.

 
I just got my Sony NW-HD1 20 gigger on Friday, and I'd like to announce that it is the best thing ever created. Smaller than Ipod, 30 hour battery life (I get 26 using the backlight, I already timed it) and it's tiny. Every time I look at it I am surprised at how small it is. It's about as big as a mini, only with 20 gigs and 26 hours on the battery. It's only $25 more than the ipod if you look around.

iRiver 1 GB flash player here. i had a 20gb ipod but it broke when i took a hard landing (i didn't even land ON it) and Crapple wouldn't replace or even fix the damn thing. go flash (vs a hard drive) if you don't want to have to take care of it. i could drop my iriver off a building and it would still work. i also have heard that some iPod's don't work well above 9000 feet.

ive got a 15gb dell dj. the thing that makes it better than an ipod is that its only 200 bucks and its got 20hrs of bat life(kinda important when you get about half of whats normal when its cold). the downside is that its fatter and a bit heavier than an ipod. also now that i think about it, that kinda is why i dont worry about smashin it when im skiin.

Take a look at the iRiver H320 and H340. Color screen, video and picture playback, fm radio, many other things too. Cheaper than an iPod too.

I would recommend the dell dj. A friend of mine just got one, the 20 gb one for around 200. He loves it and its pretty sweet. A little heavy but not that bad. Haha or you could get a pimp mp3 player like me, weighs about as much as 3 AAA batteries and about 2 inches tall and 1 inch wide! pimp...unfortunately it only holds 64 mb....

sacha, no, not correct. How about I support the ipod because it is the best. I've spent hours which have led to days researching the pros/and cons of each of the different mp3 players, and while yes, the ipod does cost a little more, it is worth it.

Point in case.

I didn't ramble on and give explicit details outlining why it's better because I already have done so in the past numerous times. I have already written down huge summaries, along with many other people here.

Use the search bar. There's been hundreds of threads on this in the past.

suntec muro something or other. it can do anything. like transmit the music it is playing to any radio. for example you could go into walmart by all those stereos and play your music through there for everyone to hear
