Whatever happened to Johnny Moseley?

Johnny is right now, starring in a new Nextel commercial where he falls into a giant crevasse. Down there he finds a bunch of gapers from the 70's thinking his phone is a sandwich. In his free time he is either going to school, longboarding, skiing of course, sailing in the San Francisco bay, and straight chillin.

I give the guy all the respect in the world. Back in 1994, when I first saw mogul skiing, I thought it was kinda dull. They couldnt do backflips or go inverted, it was all a bunch of twisters. Then, in 1998, johnny comes out and busts a 360 mute grab. This caught huge attention, especially bein he won the gold medal. in 2002, he busted the dinner roll. He got 4th place in the competition, but that is still very good, and he did bust the sickest trick.

This year was so cool though. There were no twisters. there were D-spins, 720's, backflips, and pretty steezy stuff. There was a lot of pencil steeze, but thats okay. It was tight. I really enjoyed it. One guy even busted out a 1080. I thought that was super sick, especially being that he had barely any room to stick the thing.

All that stuff can thank Johnny Moseley for getting going. If he hadnt done the dinner roll, nobody would have tried to get inverted tricks to be legal in mogul comps.

You can also thank him for getting freestyle skiing out there in the minds of people. Ever since he won gold in the olympics, freestyle skiing has BOOMED. Think. the year after he won, the first salomon 1080 skis came out. Johnny Moseley was also the first to have his own signature freestyle ski: The Head Mad Trix. Those things were bad ass, and the same design, although slightly upgraded, is still being used on their Mojo 80s.

Johnny's influnce on the sport was the powderkeg.

Think about it. Skiing had all the makings to get started. They just needed a guy who was creative enough to bust out. For years there were guys like Evan Raps, Vincent Dorion, JF Cusson, Micah Black, JP Auclair, and Kent Kreitler. Guys like that, who were daredevils and threw down crazy tricks that no other skier would attempt.

Johnny Moseley just came out and did it publicly, and essentially got the ball rolling, and Operation: *Make Skiing Gnarlier and Get Off This Gaper Business* was underway.

This last summer, in San Francisco, Johnny and his skiwax sponsor, ICER, held the first ICER AIR. They trucked in like 500 tons of snow and dumped it all over one of the steepest streets in the city. Snowboarders and skiers from all over came to ski. C.R. won the event, which is pretty cool being hes from just up the road in Truckee, California. Johnny got to throw down a few tricks of his own, and also was able to give away the bride to be married on the snow. CRAZYNESS. Gotta love that kinda shit.

in 1999, just a year after Johnny won the medal, The X games put skiing big air into the comp. JF Cusson won that year, with Johnny coming in 2nd, and Vincent Dorion in 3rd.

The next year, Candide Thovex, a 16 year old at the time came out and beat everyone. That same year, so many other skiers busted out of the mold. Just look at the names!

I say the guy can be on MTV all he wants, as long as he promotes skiing in the positive way he always has.

It didnt totally fail. It was fun. They just didnt have a 2 player mode or anything, so it got kinda boring.

Still. The backflip backpack off the ground rocks.

he seemed cool.

i had Jonny Moseley mad trix skiing ps2 game. It was good for all of 2 seconds. Then i sold it on ebay ahh the joys of ebay

Everyone giving props to Mosely for his contributions to moguls and park are spot on but noone's mentioned that he kills big mountain. I can't remember what films they are but he's got some killer segments in some of the old MSP films. At his peak he also held a Johnny Mosely big mountain invitational, invited many of the worlds best (Kreitler etc) and then proceeded to win it. Anyone hating on him has no respect for where our sport came from

What is Johnny Moseley doing right now? The fact is he's doing whatever he wants because he can and probably getting head while he's doing it.

Moseley is a true player in this game. Even if he "sells out" for the end of his athletic career he will make enough money to do nothing but ski his entire life. Do you punks think you would really turn down all the cash and MTV flocking bitches for a few months ski like have been constantly doing your entire life? Get real- Moseleys stacking his chips and making power moves.

Honesly though. The guy is doing commercials for Nextel now lol.

He fell into a crevasse and found a bunch of old gapers who thought his fone was a sandwitch. Pimp shit yo. :D
