What happened to Johnny Moseley? After the salt lake olympics, he was like the big thing in skiing. But since then i havent heard anything about him. Does anyone know?

All I can say is that JM is living a pretty swank lifestyle. He's brought media attention into the new school scene with Nagano. So what if he hosted a show for MTV? Good for him I say. And I've read too he's in school. Even smarter on his behalf. I have no hate here for the man.

I think you should give the guy the credit he deserves. He generally cares about this sport, and at one time was one of the more progressive skiers out there, and he can do it all. He may not have had overly good style, but he did some tricks way before a lot of people - 1080 mute like 6 or 7 yrs ago.

everyone here hates so much. id host an mtv show if given the opportunity. he won a gold medal and gave a lot of exposure to the sport. plus i actually like watching freestyle mogul comps now, and thats in thanks largly to him.

Let me get this straight...an online community with some 30,000 members and you all are hatin on Jonny? He was the best freestyle skier in the world at one point, LITERALLY. He went to Olympics, said damn the man and tweaked his 360 mute, thus rocketing freestyle skiing into what it is today...jeez, what a fag (sarcasm).

fuck all you who arent giving the man credit. he WON a gold medal, invented the 360 mute grab, and i bet he can outski about 90% of you... hurt or not, he may not be the godfather of extreme skiing but the guy gave the sport a vision, and he handed it off to others... without him, i highly doubt we'd be doing some of the stuff we are.

I also really dislike comments about selling out. What really are you talking about? How can someone sell out and what business is it of yours? For someone who has done so much for skiing JM get way too much shit. And anyway he can do what he likes, its his life and he can do with it what he wants. So far he's a kick ass skier, he's made some dosh out of skiing (very hard to do) and probably had serious fun doing it all.

Sounds good to me.

(i forget the name of the guy who did) but obviously a lot of people think he did, and just that shows that he basically owns that trick. he did invent the dinner roll, and while no one really throws the dinner roll anymore as a result of the new rules, they throw Dspin, which is similar, and if it werent for JM mogul skiers wouldnt be allowed to throw Dspin.

^ It was JF Cusson who threw a "heli-iron cross with a break of form" in a mogul comp in 1996.

Moseley's Dinner Roll always used to be his version of a Rodeo 720 (I remember reading him saying he didn't like using/confusing the same trick names with snowboarders). He was even practicing this right up to the 2002 Winter Games but switched it up for a Corked 720 because of the easier landing. Judges didn't even notice the difference...

first off, too all you dickheads that enjoy rippin' on Jonny Moseley, i'd like to clue you into something. He is as much as a pioneer to freestyle skiing as anyone in the industry. he's a mogul skiing legend and the first guy to put freestyle skiing and mogul skiing together in a mainstream spotlight (i.e.: the olympics) any talentless punk can spend 8hrs at their local mountain and nail a table all day but 9 times outta 10 that kid can't ski moguls for shit because it takes a serious talent and discipline. i've had the chance to meet him and he's an awesome guy, real personable and outgoing. granted i think it was kinda gay to go to MTV but don't put that and what he did for skiing in the same basket. and as far as i know he still competes in moguls but there i could be wrong. he deserves the same respect as Seth Morrison or Shane, he may have accomplished different things but he's still one of the original freestyle pioneers and without what he did, alot our freeskiing world as it is today would still be in the dark.

What he did was really cool, but I don't think that skiing mogels is harder then skiing park. If we all skied mogels all day for our whole lives instead of the park, we would be pretty good at them too. It's just different, not neccisarily harder.

yah, a gold medal IS a big deal. you go out there and try to get a gold medal for mogul skiing.. infact get a medal for anything! i doubt that you would even make it to nationals.
