What were the origins of skiing?

I'm sure there have been threads about this before but I need to figure out like about how skiing in general started cause I am writing a paper about it.

I cant seem to find any good books or websites so if anybody knows of any sites or books it would be great if you could post them here.

thanks

I believe it had something to do with snowcats, snowmobiles, helicopters, and vikings ripping epic kickers and pillow lines in their time off between village sackings.

I believe skiing evolved from snowshoeing, and experimentation eventually caused snow shoes to become more narrow and longer until finally they were designed for going downhill.

there are threads on this but w.e. skiing was originally a form of transportation not recreation. it evolved over time and was used for many different things. look up i think its the 10th mountain division. its a part of the army that i believe during ww2 , used skis to move around behind enemy lines. look it up on google and you will get the info on them. its actually pretty interesting. but yea skiing was originally transportation and evolved into recreation.

If you already check websites and books and found nothing then you must really suck at researching...

i dont remember where i heard/read this but way back in the day when they did this stuff they had some kind of bindings that allowed them to 'click' in with their combat boots on. they used to train them they would be like point em down hill and pray for the best

i did some report about it in like 8th grade but i dont remember att all. just go to wikipedia and use a encyclopedia. thats what i did

skiing started in the hood as a way for gansters to move through the snow well enough to cap some fool and get out when the cutlas was buried in the snow.

why else would people combine winter sport and thug life?

HAHAHA!!!! That reminds me of that Tanner Hall interview were he looked stoned off his ass explaining how he was a Viking...

one day someone got tired of walking so he skied and alot of others joined then some didnt use poles so others treated them differntly
