What was your first rail experience?

I tripped shit, but it was pretty sick...

Wait, are we talking about the same thing?

I, just started being able to consistently hit rails, very fun. First time I skied at the rail at an angel and thought I could just kind of ski into it. I tripped over it and fell on my face. Good times.

I think I actually managed to successfully hit my first rail, and then i got cocky the next couple times and slid out onto my back.

First rail I tried was a flat bar, and somehow I didn't slip out, just kind of hopped on and then right off again. First time I greased the rail I caught my back ski on the start of the rail and sort of did an accidental broken grind.

I was scared to death because I thought I was going to face plant on to the rail, and afterwards a coach walked up to me and said he thought I was going to eat shit when I caught my ski on the rail, so that scared me off of rails for a little while after that haha.

After a long day of skiing on at panorama i went out alone to the one night lift outside the condo with my new orange 1080's probably a solid 137 cm haha. The lift accessed a smaller park i had scoped out before. I stopped at the top of a short rail that was pretty high up and dropped in, when i hit the rail my feet immediately sliped out from under me and I fall right on my ribs. I crawled away from the feature glad no one saw it and went home. Still probably the most defeated i've felt from a rail haha.

I have a video of my first rail in my profile. It was a 4x4 from a pallet that I set up off a picnic table with a piece of firewood. So many hours of fun were had on it.

Mine was following a friend through the park to go to the jumps, he hit a fairly long box, it looked pretty easy so I gave it a go, unsurprisingly I ate shit. He was baffled that I would just try it without any idea how to do it.

Then when I tried to learn, I tried to go right foot forwards, because I span left, never thinking that maybe left might be better, got a nasty hematoma before I realised that left foot forwards was easier.

In fact I a rarely fell in the process of learning to hit rails, however, I fall more often attempting new stuff like lip 27, right 27 on.. Can't get them clean. Actually, can't get on at all ˆˆ

at Steeze Whiz's yard setup. Such a legit place. Hopefully if he's reading this he will toss some pictures up on NS soon.

On a 1' diameter metal pipe set in the snow. It was very painful for the left side of my body. Little did I know the flat bar two feet of the ground would have been easier to learn on.

i actually didnt bail at all when i first tried rails. i didnt ride the whole thing though as i slipped off. my first was a pvc pipe, box then a flat rail. boxes r my fav by far.

box slide to face plant to mouth hitting the coping to lip stiches. When i looked at it and said how bad can it go. I def didnt expect that to be a potential outcome.

Blown two knees. Had to skip departure to the alps which was due today AM.

Lesson learnt - don't fucking use kicker DIN settings for rails.

first box some kids from the park gave me some pointers, and i ended up hitting it and making it without falling. first rail was a wishbone rail.....dont ask why, shawnee has no flat rails, and i ate shit

when i was about 14, hit a tiny flat box, didnt really fall but put my hand down real hard, broke my thumb. took me about two years to hit one again but now i love em haha

I set up a ghetto pvc rail over the summer on a hill and learned, also picked up inline skating and it helped a ton
