The first newschool movie is 'State of Mind'. Johnny made 'Fade to Black' the year before, but it was mainly a mogul movie.

well fade to black was the first PBP movie, it had mostly moguls in it... Around the same time the Midwest All-Stars were doing their thing.... they had a couple pretty bitchin VCR-to-VCR-edit movies.

 
13 was the first one i saw and it totally blew my mind, and thats exactly what makes a good flick

i know 13 isn't the first, but its somewhere in the older ones...it's so much different watching those older videos compared to the new ones, 13 has like double twisters in it, not that there's anything wrong with double twisters, but compared to now, its quite a bit different.

I had a pair of Axecleavers when Douglas came out with that Air Carving thing...haha they were off the hook. The lifters blew everyones mind, i could carve a complete circle at the bottom of the hill if i had enough speed. Oh ya and 'The Game' now that i watch it still is fucking cool.

There was a teneighty promo video that came out back in the day with the first 100 pairs of 1080's ever sold (my bro was lucky enough to get a a pair of those skis) Thats a pretty old video I think it came out the year before Degenerates.

How many 1080s do you see in State of Mind. hmmm none so if they made a promp for the 1080s before state of mind, youd think you might just see someone using them in state of mind. Hmmmmm which one came first? What you do see in state of mind is vinnie D on the first NEW twintip made by Rossi.

man, it`s so much older than any of you youngsters could ever imagine. I happen to have in my possession the first ever freeze and the first ever freeskier, if anybody is interested in making a purchase or trading with me. By the way, it was definitely state of mind which came first. The super show by Mikey Hilb came out the same year as Degenerates. A little story, my roomate in whistler that summer had some punk friend who was in degenerates. We used to make fun of him cause he was tiny and kind of shy, and dressed like a total surfer beach bum. This punk was... tanner hall!!! This was before he blew up and became a total wigger.

There also was another version of in for north america that was about 12 minutes long and was filmed by Johnny D, before he made degenerates and 13. Mikey Hilb was also the next to make skiings last stand, and if i remember carefully, there were 1080's in it, and they had the straight tail. Then there was supershow and White Salmon Productions was done with. 3 years ago i ran into Hilb in Maui and he said he was working on a full lenght feature film...but that didnt go through. My first pair of twin tips i made after seeing the boys film air carving on the glacier in 1996 or 97...i cant remember anyomre im too old...i went home and boiled the tails and bent them under my door...

Well, in 'State of Mind' no one is using 1080s. Air carving was released around that time, maybe during the season which 'State of Mind' was filmed. Or shortly after.
