What video camera do you guys recommend? I know you guys will say something like the gl1 but I only want to spend about 400-500 bucks. I was looking at the JVC GRDVL120U MiniDV, anyone have it? I just want a good all around digital camcorder, not necessarilly for skiing but I do plan on doing some filming this season.

be careful with the JVC's. the quality isn't up to par with canon and sony and the firewire port may not be compatible with the latest standards. i had a JVC mini DV before owning a gl1 and now an optura 100MC and the firewire port never would work making it pretty freegin useless. i'd verify the firewire compatibility before i laid down any cash!

i have the panasonic pv dv201, with a fisheye lense, it's the shit! not that expensive either, pretty good quality for a single chip camera.

'what the fuck are fries and gravy?'

hellocamera.com has the canon zr40 for $480 USD.

My friend has that JVC cam yuor talking about it seems to be ok it works with Final Cut Pro 3. doesnt have an accessarie(sp) shoe thought. I am going to get the Sony trv50 pretty expensive but nice.

When a door says private dont you just wanna walk in anyways

JVC quality doesnt come up to par with Sony or Canon. I would say Canon's are the best. They have the best quality and they have an analog input.

I have a cannon pv-910 pro, it has a few year on it, but it has taken a licking, is still ticking, i am looking to get an older film camera to add more of a artistic look on my stuff, and get some real movie making skills, all my dv films are so clear it looks like a porno or soap opera. Premiere does have an after affects program that can mask your dv, and i like it, but i still want to shoot on the real stuff. but as far as dv goes, i say you can't go wrong with the cannon gl1, there is a new camera that you can shoot at differn't framrates just like film, that is going to be tight.
