What type of Wood?

depends on company and ski, some are really soft but light, some are strong and heavy, some are strong and light, it usually says on the website

contrary to popular belief bamboo is not a wood found in skis, all the other ones so far have been correct though.

but Rowen is right, wood cores are over rated, grass is the dope stuff.

K2 uses mostly fir in their twintips, fir is also pretty common in other skis. Stiffer skis often use hardwoods (usually maple or ash). Bamboo is used by Liberty and some other companies. It has similar properties to ash, but is an easier resource to renew, is a little lighter and is more lively. Poplar is pretty common, especially in women's models of some companies. Spruce is used too, it is similar to fir but flexier. whether it is white, red or black spruce is another question. I would hazard a guess at red spruce, since it tends to be the highest quality lumber of the three, with the most consistent grain, and other good properties. I think for ash, white ash would be used, since it is more common than black ash, which tends to grow in wetter, swampy areas. I know out of the species of maple (sugar, red, rock, or striped), rock maple makes good handles for tools (axes, etc) but I don't know if that's what they would use in skis or not.

My skis are made up of a hardened oak core injected with liquid titanium, its the manliest core possible~

I feel like a bamboo core would suck, it would be super flexy but not durable at all. Correct me if I'm wrong, I have a longboard made of bamboo but I feel like it wouldn't hold up to a beating to well?

bamboo is 40 % the weight of wood, has more pop, longer life, and is more durable so less likely to break.

the most bomber wood on earth is brazilian iron wood, our porch is made from it, it weighs like 100 pounds a square foot though.

that stuff is insane. There are ironwood trees in North America too, but I don't know if it is the same species. They are related to birch trees. The wood is unbelievably dense and hard

Seems like most common woods at this point include:

Aspen

Ash

Poplar

Maple

Fir

Birch

Then obviously has been stated above, Bamboo is also getting more popular, But it is technically a grass.
