I recently bought a 2mp Sony camera, and even though it's not the greatest quality...it's pretty impressive for only 2. The mpeg video option is very nice too.

but i did pay too much for it just because it said sony...but i like memory sticks :-)

Look for size, lense, accessories... Like Sony, Kodak, Canon...2megapixel is good enough, if you want to make more professional photography, go with 3+

do not buy kodak, their cameras suck, also digi zoom doesn't mean a goddamn thing only look at optical zoom.

settings that you can control. Don't go with one that primarily works off of automatic functions.

Digital zoom sucks, its not real zoom.

I got an olympus that will take 4 pix in a row...

also it works like a regular drive, so you don't need software...which means you can hook it up to ANY computer with a USB port.

You can't do sequences worth shit with a digital camera. Canon's new 11 megapixel camera (EOS-1Ds) can only shoot 3fps for up to 10 frames. And it costs about 8000usd. Not worth it. Nikon's D1 H or whatever, their fastest digital camra can spit out decent sequnces if you're not concerned about spending about 5000usd on a low resolution digital camera. Basiclly, if you want sequences just spend 1000 to 1500 on a good film SLR. If you don't know what I'm taking about by now, don't even try. And if you want a digital camera regardless of their absolute shittiness below 5000usd, look for one with the least shutter lag. Most digital cameras below 2000usd all only good for family snap-shots; there's to much time between when you push the shutter release button and when the facking thing actually takes the picture. Lok at the Olympus E-20 if you're will to spend money an a decent amature/pro camera. Or just go with film. Or get a Lomo. Yeah, Lomo, you know you want one.

Once, again Phrosty knows what he's taking about. Kodak sucks? Oh yeah? 13.4 megapixels for 5000 grand, verus 11.1 megapixels for 8000. Sure their sub $1000 suck ass, but whose dont? Any non camera company 'sucks' sure, but at in digital, unless its an SLR, it really doesn't mattter.

ok this kid isn't going to drop grand on a camera. probalbly won't spend over 500. for that price kodak sucks, as do you. I know exactly what i am talking about.

what...

If you're just getting a point and shoot, Olympus and Fuji are top rated. keep in mind lots of cameras take 2 batteries instead of 4. that makes a big difference too, in the point and shoot category

instead of listening to people bickering about which brand is best, go to www.cnet.com and read reviews about the cameras. You can also search for a camera with google.com and you'll get lots of reviews. Some of them rate the shutter lag, which is important if you want to make sequences.

for $600 you can get the Fuji S602 which has 6x optical, 3mp, nearly all the features of an SLR, iso 80-400 film speed plus 800 and 1600 at 1mp. And the one of the fastest shutter speeds of any sub $1000 camera. It also takes 640x480 video at 30fps which looks really good.
