And as far as suggestions in this thread go:
Rijksmuseum, Stedelijk Museum, Van Gogh Museum are all worth visiting. If you like photography, I'd recommend FoAm, as well as House Marseille, which I personally like better.
All 5 are top-notch musea if that's what you're in to.
Red light district is fun for 30 mins tops, as is chilling in a coffee shop.
Renting a bike is the best and cheapest way to get around, as well as fun and definitely the most Dutch thing in the world, but for Gods sake, don't be a fucking tourist and cycle on the side-walks, in the middle of the road or like a complete retard (tourists are the best at this).
Canal tours are quite touristy, but the perspective from the canals is really nice.
Depending on the time you're going, there's probably some sick festivals and parties going on. What time are you planning on going?
Chilling/BBQ'ing in the Vondelpark on any given spring/summer evening is also really nice, but probably not that much different from any other city.
Anne Frank house is special, but expect qeues up to a couple of hours. It's CRAZY in the spring/summer time.
