Obviously the statements above are generalizations of stupid shit I have read recently, but they are not exagerations.

Is it the fact that some people are not skiing right now that we have sunkk to this new low on our site? The new low of really talking shit on everything? Holy fuck, nothing to sacred to some of you bastards. Realize that we are much much too small an entity to alienate different braches of our sport. One of the cornerstones of our industry was just pulled from the foundation. Wake up. IT IS ALL SKIING AND IT ALL GETS PEOPLE ON THE HILL USING SAID EQUIPMENT. Am I alone here thinking people are getting pretty harsh on everything, minus any rational education they would need to back up their statemnts or rants? Some people really need to relax and bring back the dignity and respect this site deserves. A sense of community again............it is sliding away in spots. Curious what some think:

You ask why I did that? It was a measly attempt at best, but I did it simply because I really do love skiing and I work a few brisk steps away from four snowboard companies. I do not want us to be like that, pain and simple. I want skiing to fucking rule it again, and while it is seemingly on that slow path, arguing amongst eachother about trivial aspects of our sport gets us going nowhere. Collective power you mother fuckers, take pride.

I just think it is lame that everyone argues but if they ever actually met these people they'd probably be really cool and be fun to ski with. Case and point I met Andy Mahre at Hood after our little scuffle on here this summer. He was a really cool guy and of course there was not real beef between us.

I think the whole point of racing is moronic. Short skis with tons of sidecut and a huge lift carving on ice and hitting plastic gates and wearing spandex. Nope. Sure it takes tons of practice and slaps on the ass by a coach. Sure it's scary, I wouldn't want to ski on ice. Still not cool in my book.

Schimies I agree. I havent been around here long as you can tell from my posts, but the impression i get is that a lot (not all, or even most) but there are a LOT of people who just talk shit. Theres not much respect or openness floating around here. It seems people are so bent on generaliztions (about telemarking and racing) that whenever it gets mentioned, its only to be shit on mby 14 year olds with their heads in their ass, who's parents bougth them twin tips.

Skiing is all im good at. :-(
 
It depends on what race you are doing. DH skis, even Salomon's are fucking huge. But if your doing slalom then yesthe skis are short. How do people not know this stuff. Racing kicks ass. I love watching the kids my age who race at our hill. They all have such perfect form and ski so fluid and smooth. I wish I could ski like that. They all get out and rip in the pow on pow days and kill the park in their off time. Just like the rest of us.

I promised myself I wouldn't get into this, because I'm writing a history term paper, but this forum, when used correctly, is a place to share thoughts and have a few laughs, and hopefully learn something (skiing-related or not).

What it turns into in the hands of countless 12-to-15-year-olds is a space online where they can grab attention for themselves. A lot of the time, the only way they can do that is to talk smack on just about everything they can find.

It sucks, but it's the truth. There are older assholes on this site (i.e. dspin7x), but most of the senseless stupidity and hate comes from people like $bhill$ and snapjibber2008 and other young guns who think they're hot shit and basically don't have the maturity to handle such an open-ended environment.

This is an internet forum, and there are rarely repercussions for what is said on here. The more immature members (of whom there seems to be an awfully high number lately) don't realize that this does not give them an open license to talk shit on everything they see. They simply lack the maturity to realize that respect is universal; whether it be on the mountain, at school, at work or even on the internet, the principle of respect is something that applies to everybody everywhere.

And I guess most of them just think it doesn't apply here... sad, but that's the situation.
